What Filipinos Today Can Learn From Filipino Soldiers Who Gloriously Fought In The Battle Of Yuldong

I was doing a bit of research and unfortunately, one incident out of many was used to justify the whole fallacy that says " Pelepenos are da most powerful race in a world ." -- it was the great Battle of Yuldong in North Korea which happened last April 22 - 23, 1951. It was once upon a time when the Philippines was still a great nation. It was merely three years and several months after the Philippines truly gained its independence. It was when a Tsinoy captain named Conrado D. Yap valiantly gave his life for the Philippines to defeat the combined forces of 40,000 Maoist troops which aided North Korea's troops. Take note that China's military was severely weakened thanks to Mao Zedong's irresponsible leadership. So does this prove that the Filipinos are the most powerful race in the world and the Chinese are always no match for them? Not at all. Need I remind you that the brave captain was Chinese by blood and that one of the greatest Filipino revolutionaries...

Successful Filipinos Worldwide Won't "Be The One" If They Didn't Face Competition

I can't blame it when Filipinos who are fans of Kamen Rider are rejoicing over Beverly Caimen singing the Kamen Rider Build opening theme. On the other hand, there's also the bad side that whenever a Filipino succeeds abroad there's the tendency to free ride on him or her. It's time to talk about successful Filipinos worldwide. No, this isn't a sign that "Pelepenos are taking over a world." Instead, this is a sign that truly talented and hardworking Filipinos tend to find their success abroad instead of an environment where competition is so low. The keyword for this post is competition. The Philippines' current environment is very anti-competition such as the use of the 60/40 rule. If you're complaining why the local services of the Philippines suck then blame it on a lack of competition. How can most Filipinos businesses continuously think of making their businesses better if there's hardly any competition? This highly anti-competiti...

Stop Obsessing Over Nonsense Issues And Start Doing Some Self-Research On The Basics Of Politics And Economics

Is it me or is smart-shaming  which in turn hurts the real people with the brains the fad right now? You have people who are so stupid but they have a high view of themselves and they call those who disagree with them as "stupid and unlearned". It's easy to certain people to demean sites like Get Real Philippines or CoRRECT Philippines or any sites without understanding the content or what these sites want to relay. Then again if a real political analyst or a real economist were to speak the truth about their stupidity there's the high chance that  they would still refuse to listen to him or her . This of course leads to the one bitter truth that people tend to focus on nonsense instead of self-studying the basics of politics and economics. What obsession over nonsense am I talking about? It's the whole problem how so many people tend to get stuck on petty issues instead of real problems . This can alternatively be called as turning anthills into mountains ...

Hardworking Filipinos Find Themselves In The Same Situation As The Third Little Pig

Do you remember the story of the Three Little Pigs? Sometimes, there are stories that we know aren't real but we end up getting a lesson from them. In fact, some stories were meant to impart hard lessons in an entertaining way. One of those stories you might remember is the Three Little Pigs. The story involved three pig brothers who had to move out of their mother's house. The first pig built a house of straw. The second pig built a house of sticks. The third pig built a house of bricks. The wolf with his super power breath came in and only the brick house stood. Depending on the version you read you may end up with the plot where the first two pigs were eaten by the wolf.  How relevant is the story of the Three Little Pigs to Filipino society? You may find that one out of three Filipinos think like the third little pig. Two out of three Filipinos think like the first two pigs. In a culture where Pwede Na Yan  has become the normal way for a lot of Filipinos. The first...

South Korean Entertainment Companies Don't Need To Pay Pinoy Bloggers To Write Against Teleseryes

It's a very common trend in the Philippines to accuse your fellow Pinoy or just anyone to be " binayaran ". If you write something for President Duterte then some Pinoys are quick to accuse that the person is paid by the Duterte Camp. Some Duterte supporters are sad to say to quickly accuse all Dilawans as bayarans when that's not always the case. In the case of this article, it shouldn't be a surprise if stupid networks like ABiaS-CBN and GMA-7  or anyone who loves watching those stupid primetime teleseryes would accuse anyone of being paid by South Korean entertainment companies to write articles against their beloved teleseryes . I'd like to give a hypothetical scenario. A Pinoy blogger starts writing a lot of favorable reviews for his or her favorite Koreanovelas. At the same time, he or she may also write a lot of unfavorable articles about teleseryes. He or she may start writing why teleseryes suck and South Korean dramas rock. He may also write how ...

Why Throwing Out An Incompetence-Based System Should Come First

It's very easy to say we should weak out incompetent people but is that enough? If you remembered I wrote that the dysfunctional 1987 constitution should go kaboom first . It's time we discuss about why we need a competency based system before we can effectively weed out the incompetent. It's the chicken and the egg. There has to be system change first or there should be a set of rules first before you can expect changes. Waiting for Filipinos to change is just like waiting for thievery to stop before you set rules against it. Trying to get rid of weeds in your garden without the right tools and methods will just tire out the gardener.  Replacing the popularity-based presidential-unitary system with the competency-based parliamentary-federal system I agree that the Philippines as a nation should go federal. After reading the basics of federalism it's nice to know how the country can be decongested. The country is plagued with a democracy meant for stupid peop...

Why The Dysfunctional 1987 Constitution Should Go Kaboom First

It's quite unfortunate that Richard Gordon himself who I admire also has said that federalism can't work immediately and that the Filipino attitude must change first. Just like President Rodrigo Duterte , I also don't agree with everything Gordon says. Sure Gordon is right when it comes to not being " pro-poor " and he got mad with David Guerrero's tagline . Now it's time to think about the whole getting rid of the old system. I hope that this reaches Gordon and he can see his mistake. This is just like I support President Duterte but his supporters must criticize him when he's wrong. I remembered how I discussed with the K+12 program during one of my conversations with a college professor. I was asked by him, "What do you think of the K+12?" I soon said, "We need to change the attitude of people first." Then I was told, "That will take forever! The Philippines is too used to  associating the Pinoy identity  to enjoy their ...

Butthurt Philippines' Short On Telebasura Productions

Here's a funny Butthurt Philippines clip (please click to enlarge or kindly open to another window) showing the possible step on how to make telebasuras. These four steps may actually reflect on what's wrong with the credit grabbing culture . This is going to be a pretty outrageous post so be ready for just anything. Remember you've been warned? Are you ready?

Filipinos Fighting For Reforms May Be Considered As The New Jose Rizals!

It's a problem in the Philippines that you must ride the bandwagon or you're considered stupid. It's a culture of just do what everyone does no matter how stupid it is. It's really a problem in the Philippines to have a prevailing culture of anti-intellectualism . For these anti-intellectuals they think that the smart ones are stupid and the stupid ones are smart. It's all about their quest for "smart shaming" and their quest to "expose just how stupid the intellectuals are". These activities include online trolling (some of them even have gone as far as to be "brave" to foolishly expose themselves, character assassinations, name calling, demanding people to show themselves while commenting as "Anonymous") and/or commenting without reading posts properly .

The Dysfunctional Pinoy Bandwagon VS. The Enlightened Pinoy

Ever heard of the bandwagon effect? It's defined by the Business Dictionary as, "A psychological theory where individuals will do something primarily because other individuals are doing it, regardless of their own beliefs, which they will ignore or override. This effect has the capability to produce wide implications, but is most often seen in the areas of politics as well as in consumer behavior. For instance, in politics, individuals may vote for a candidate because he or she is most popular and the voters want to be considered as part of the majority. It can also be seen during bull markets and the growth of asset bubbles. It can also be referred to as herd mentality."

Strict Disciplinary Measures Will NOT Destroy One's Pinoy Identity

It's always an issue whenever you have Pinoys that love to use their being Pinoy to justify their blunder . Scold them for being late and they might tell you that being late is part of being Pinoy. Ask them to turn the volume down and they'll say it's part of being Pinoy. Almost everything unfairly generalized among Pinoys gets upheld and celebrated by stupid Pinoys. Worse, they say that such practices are part of their being Pinoy and that if they stopped doing them then they may lose their "Pinoy identity" and "Pinoy culture" in the process. You may also attribute this to the culture of indifference .  Such statements are pure B.S. by several levels. Pinoys are born to be Pinoy. It's their genetic birthright or at least their national birthright. If you're born in the Philippines, grown in the Philippines and a citizen of the Philippines then you may consider yourself a Pinoy or Filipino. You can't change the fact you're born Fili...

Reasons Why Taiwanovelas Are Way Better Than Telebasuras

I didn't think about writing this but since today is Taiwan's independence day, I wanted to write this short. I could still remember the Taiwanovela craze. There was The Amazing Twins  - I can't deny the arrival of Meteor Garden was what started the craze. Meteor Garden was my very first Taiwanese series and it made me take a temporary break from Tokusatsu for a short time. It was a new fad and while I'm kinda bored of it right now (no thanks to that Toku break) but it may be a moment in time before I take another break from Toku. I never started liking TV drama in general because of the telebasura fad . I could remember how often I whined constantly about there's nothing but telebasura to watch. Then Meteor Garden came and sad to say there's an upcoming remake from that stupid network called ABiaS-CBN. Meteor Garden was a remake and adaptation of the Japanese Manga known as Hana Yori Dango. I thought it was Japanese because F4 all wore the Anime hairstyle...

Filipinos Fighting For Constitutional Reform For A Better Philippines Are Also New Heroes!

Forget about the, " All OFWs are the new heroes ." hype because that's not true. While some OFWs are indeed new heroes but others are just Okay Fine Whatever  that's why many of them remain poor. There's NOTHING heroic about working abroad, feeding leeches and starting the cycle all over again. But do you know who are among the new heroes of the Philippines? I'm not just going to focus on Filipinos who show the world that the Philippines can achieve something by winning competitions and contributing to knowledge but also Filipinos who are fighting for a better Philippines. They're new heroes not only because they follow simple guidelines  but also they're fighting to make the Philippines a better place.

Indifference Is Killing The Filipino Society!

Do you ever think this picture is true anywhere? It's also true for the Filipino society and puh-lease, don't give me any more of, "Well nangyari naman yun sa ibang bansa!" or "Well, it's also happening in other countries." because that kind of behavior contributes to failure. The issue has Filipinos who are trying to save the sinking boat vs. Filipinos who are glad that the hole isn't in their end and are indifferent. I think that kind of situation also was another good reason why a lot of ship disasters also happen.

Dear Pinoy Ultranationalists: PLEASE DO EVERY DECENT PINOY NETIZEN A FAVOR BY LEAVING THE INTERNET NOW AND FOREVER!!!!

It's very annoying to have those Filipino ultranationalists who are on social media like Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Blogger, Wordpress, etc. Let me ask these simple questions to really show to them how self-contradictory they really are. First, I'd like to ask them whether or not Filipinos invented computers and the Internet. They may be paying electric bills and telecommunication bills from local Filipino companies but the concept isn't Filipino. Filipinos today enjoy a lot of stuff because of foreign influence. Besides, I could also attack them by asking them if their appliances were all made by Filipinos. I don't think any of their appliances were of Filipino brands and/or made by Filipinos. Even if Filipino workers were there in certain countries how sure are they that they were assembled by Filipino hands? Even if Filipino workers did the assembling don't tell me that there weren't anything non-Filipino in those appliances.

Jose Rizal Was Against A Misguided Notion Of Happiness

The Philippine national hero once said, "Filipinos don't realize that victory is the child of struggle, that joy blossoms from suffering, and redemption is a product of sacrifice." While I couldn't imagine or fully say what his life was, I could imagine people who might have told him in Spanish, " Who are you? A hero? " or, "Well we can't do anything, can we?" to excuse or enjoy their blunder. If Jose Rizal were alive today, I think he might actually dare to slam David Guerrero  for his nonsense tagline, "It's More Fun in the Philippines" on his face. If he were alive today, he might also say, "Stop with that nonsense slogan. Why don't you make it a reality?" and maybe he would have written the book, "It's Not More Fun in the Philippines" instead of Noli Me Tangere. Many Filipinos have this problem that  they think they are a nation of happy people  when in reality that behind their smiles is a sa...

This Pinoy Is Not Ashamed To Work As A Janitor While Studying In Australia!

Remembering that incident several years ago of some Filipinos who were complaining about the "offensive" Hong Kong textbook that called Filipinos as "domestic helpers ", now here's somebody Ic an proudly call a "bagong bayani" or "new hero". This is a Pinoy who works in Australia as a janitor and he is not ashamed to do menial work unlike some butthurt ultranationalists who whined about that textbook. What did they think Filipinos are? Rulers of the world? Get real Sad to say but a lot of Pinoys are nothing more than whiny crybabies who are occupied with their Pinoy Pride . It's a sad fact really but  a lot of Pinoys belittle manual labor  which I might give credit to their " haciendero mentality ". I noticed a lot of Pinoys tend to belittle menial tasks and even if it's a Pinoy authority that tells them to pick up the piece of paper, they show how "tough" they really are. It's no wonder why progress doe...
