Successful Filipinos Worldwide Won't "Be The One" If They Didn't Face Competition

I can't blame it when Filipinos who are fans of Kamen Rider are rejoicing over Beverly Caimen singing the Kamen Rider Build opening theme. On the other hand, there's also the bad side that whenever a Filipino succeeds abroad there's the tendency to free ride on him or her. It's time to talk about successful Filipinos worldwide. No, this isn't a sign that "Pelepenos are taking over a world." Instead, this is a sign that truly talented and hardworking Filipinos tend to find their success abroad instead of an environment where competition is so low. The keyword for this post is competition.

The Philippines' current environment is very anti-competition such as the use of the 60/40 rule. If you're complaining why the local services of the Philippines suck then blame it on a lack of competition. How can most Filipinos businesses continuously think of making their businesses better if there's hardly any competition? This highly anti-competition mindset doesn't only hit the economic scope of the Philippines but also the social and political mindset. That's why we've got a lot of stupid people into politics because of the popularity-based presidential system. If the system encourages incompetence then don't expect competent and truly talented Filipinos to be honored by the system. Just remember what happened to Gerphil Flores no thanks to Kris Aquino and Aiai Delas Alas.

Beverly's achievement in singing for a show worth her talent. Did she make it because she's a Pinay talent? No, she made it because she knew where she's good at and how to use it. She had to face a lot of talent in Japan. I don't think she'd be able to show off her talent in J-Pop competitions if she didn't compete. She had to compete with a lot of talented Japanese. She didn't immediately climb on top. Instead, through dedication and hard work of her field she managed to make it on top. I would believe a lot of people auditioned to sing "Be The One" and she made it. She may have failed some auditions in the past but that didn't stop her from working hard. She would have learned a lot through her past failures before she achieved the title of "Be the One".

The same goes for successful Pinoys worldwide. They wouldn't have shown how great they are if they didn't pass through competition. Pinoy talents faced off a lot of competition and were forced to be competitive. The competition made them think "My best is not good enough. I must try harder." I could think of how many fun time did Beverly sacrifice to achieve what she achieved. She practiced really hard because it's not about her being Pinoy that made her achieve. It's all about her hard work and dedication to get better in her field of expertise. All the competition molded her into the successful Pinay singer she is right now. She saw what she had to do only through competition. It's in the field of adversity and not in the comfort zone where people get the most experience.
