Why "Squid Game" Might Be A Brutal Eye Opener For Filipinos Who Love To Overspend And Desire Easy Money

I decided to check on Netflix  and found out that Squid Game is currently number one among Filipino viewers. The whole plot of the brutal survival horror series is regarding people who are trapped in TONS OF DEBT. I find the characters to be very annoying such as the main character. There seems to be some satisfaction to see some of them eventually gunned down by the organizers of the bloody game. They're made to play children's games but they die if they LOSE. Eventually, it's not all fun and games as the first episode shows that more than half of the contestants die. The blood and the gore might be a real eye-opener. All the contestants are trapped in mountains of debt.  Christmas is already near and I was thinking about the whole problem of debt traps. It's a common problem among Filipinos to be caught in the dangerous world of overspending. It's a very common scenario that not budgeting for the Christmas and the New Year is a very common problem among Filipinos

Coming Soon To Theaters: "Ang Tanging Ina Ng 1Sambayan"

The Yellowtards can now cheer as the "hit movie" Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat (which is no longer on Netflix )   might get a sequel called Ang Tanging Ina Ng 1Sambayan . I'm okay with having a merged opposition. However, 1Sambayan may not be that good if the only "logical choice" that they have is none other than outgoing Vice President Leni Loud G. Robredo . I mean, they do have other choices like Mar Roxas, Richard Gordon, Isko Moreno, etc. I mean, isn't there anyone within the merged opposition to be chosen? Why did they have to pick Leni Loud of all people? I guess it's all about motherhood statements AGAIN? Aren't there other strong women (if any) for president? I'm laughing at it because Leni Loud seems to get into the hype AGAIN based on necropolitics. Fortunately, Antonio Trillanes IV is still alive otherwise we might as well prepare for an Arlene Trillanes presidency . Though, the chances of selecting Kris Aquino for president is sti

The Liberal Party Should (BY ALL MEANS) Let Jover Laurio Run For Senator This 2022

Well it's almost 2022 and the "darling blogger" of Pignoy Ako Blog may have her time to shine. 2019 as the year when #OtsoDiretso ran for the senatorial slots but NOT ONE even one. Surprisingly, Jover Laurio DID NOT join the slots at #OtsoDiretso. Though, it seems that the ambitious swine herself may be eyeing for a government seat. Why is Jover so afraid of charter change? Why is Jover spreading wrong words against constitutional reform? The definition of the fellow ka-PABs of "the system" is not about what runs the government but WHO runs the government. Their desire to change the system is simply to let the Dilawans back in power .  The Liberal Party already prepared its candidates with Bum Aquino, Liela Dilemma, Kikoman Pangilinan, Risa Hontivirus-Baraquel, and Chel Diokno. Though there doesn't seem to be any Jover (yet) in sight - which for me is RATHER DISAPPOINTING. Jover has been very useful for their cause, right? The Pignoy Ako Blog page has been v

Would The Anti-Reforms Dare Prove That The Marcos Years Were Parliamentary, Pro-FDI , For A BILLION PESOS TAX FREE?

With the news that Bobong Bongbong Marcos is running for president there - the anti-reform troll pages such as Change Scamming, Silent No More PH, Thinking Millennials, and most especially Pignoy Ako Blog are on the run. I don't deny that they do tell a GREAT DEGREE of truth about the Marcos Years not being the golden years. If they're still trying to insist on the "gains after EDSA" (such as Toady Casino would say it ) then here's a bit of a challenge - are they willing to prove TWO THINGS right now for the sake of a billion pesos TAX-FREE? The first challenge is to prove that the Marcos Years were a REAL PARLIAMENTARY It's often said by the anti-reforms that the parliamentary system will never work because it was tried during the Marcos Years. However, evidence from both the late Ninoy Aquino and the late Lee Kuan Yew said otherwise. The late Ferdinand E. Marcos NEVER ran a real parliament. The first thing that the anti-reforms need to do is to prove Ninoy

Vote Wisely: Vote For Leni Or Shift To Parliamentary?

I would confess that rewatching the movie Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat just reminds me of the perils of presidentialism . Ironic that the movie was owned by ABiaS-CBN yet the same network really has its incredibly MASSIVE failure of the mind . 2022 is already around the corner and the same old system works. Blame everything on the late Noynoy Aquino? Blame everything on President Rodrigo R Duterte? What about blame it on the SYSTEM itself. When I mean the system - it's not just about who's in charge but the system that the leaders bring. The presidential system has proven itself to be a failure yet people still insist in it. 30+ years of presidentialism after the Marcos Years and has the Philippines truly defeated its ASEAN neighbors?  I felt the urge to write on this one because of Leni Loud makes headlines again. This Philippine Daily Inquirer (which one of its staff John Nery was a sponsor in the wedding of Jover Laurio of Pignoy Ako Blog ) now has Leni Loud herself sayi

Presidential System's A Magic Show - Mostly Form, Very Little Substance

Ever heard of the joke that Romulo Macalinlang of #OtsoDiretso was the world's greatest magician ? Macalinlang or Mac the Magician (as I prefer to call him) probably did the greatest magic trick in history - the evidence that could've led to Leni Loud Robredo's defeat was ignored and Bongbong Marcos lost the protest. However, in 2019, the magic of #OtsoDiretso was definitely a failure. The latest post of Get Real Philippines namely about Isko Moreno's "magic show" . This gave me the idea to think about writing about one of the biggest problems of the presidential system - it's like a MAGIC SHOW! The person who performs the best trick wins, right? It looks like Isko will have to keep that in mind if he expects to be president this 2022! The magic show isn't exactly a new problem either...   If you happen to be a 90s child then you may notice the first magic performance was by Joseph "Erap" Estrada. Erap, like a magician, managed to win the hea

Would It Really Matter If The Aquinos And Marcoses Will Be In Power In A Parliamentary System?

September 21 can bring in a LOT of grim memories for people especially the martial law survivors. Some people have horrible tales to tell of detention and losing loved ones. Now, I decided to write this trolling post (of sorts) to really address the time for charter change . It's disappointing (REALLY) that an intelligent guy like Bam Aquino should say, "Now it's not the right time." in regards to SYSTEM CHANGE. I guess intelligence doesn't always translate to common sense. For some - the answers go to be THAT IDIOTIC. A certain clueless someone said she will only support charter change only if there will be no more Marcoses and Dutertes. Maybe, for the Dutertards, they would say they'd only support charter change IF there are no more Aquinos. I find all these answers stupid since they're based on personality politics. Does it even matter if the person running in politics is an Aquino or a Marcos? A parliamentary system would care less if you're an Aqu

Duterte VS. Gordon Would Be More Effective With Parliamentary Weekly Questionings

It's not wrong for Senator Richard Gordon to scrutinize President Rodrigo R. Duterte. In fact, it's badly needed because there could be irregularities with Duterte's deal with Pharmally. However, I would like to address how the current Duterte vs. Gordon probe seems to be going nowhere. Why is it that the probe only happened when 2022 is fast approaching and not WEEKLY? This really shows the weakness of the presidential system - how often are presidents held accountable? When the late Noynoy Aquino was president - when was he held accountable during his SONAs? When Duterte is currently the president - when was he ever held accountable during his SONAs? The answer is neither and there's no direct accountability. Now, Gordon as a member of the INFORMAL opposition (and I think I'd really think he has what it takes to be the Opposition Leader) got some applause from the others. However, does Gordon even have his own set of appointees to mirror Duterte's appointees?

Do Martial Law Crybabies Have A Bigger Scope As To Why The Lee Kuan Yew Years Are BETTER Than That Of The Marcos Years?

It's very easy to talk about how the late Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was a dictator. It's very easy to talk about the WELL-DOCUMENTED Marcos Years atrocities. It's very easy to talk about (and bitch about) how the Philippines is still poor because of the Marcos Years . This is NOT an attempt to exonerate the Marcos ill-gotten wealth. Instead, I just love to address the fact that waiting for the Marcos wealth to be returned is like Juan Tamad waiting for the guava to fall into his mouth . For one, Frank Baraan IV or better yet Baklaan even dares to still post the question about the wealth. Then you've got people who tend to tak about the late Lee Kuan Yew. Yes, I'm talking about the great parliamentarian that turned Singapore as his book describes - From Third World to First .  The big difference of the FAKE parliament and a real parliament Many argue that shifting to parliamentary systems would mean removing term limits or term extensions. Some say that the parliamentary

Let's Petition ABS-CBN To Have Toni Gonzaga Fired, Shall We?

As said, just because I'm a critic of the Aquinos doesn't mean that I dismiss whatever good the late Noynoy Aquino did, to defend the Marcos Years, or that I'm going to overlook the bad that President Rodrigo R. Duterte did. Though, I still feel Rappler may be very biased especially based on the interview that Stephen Sackur conducted with Maria Ressa on BBC HARDtalk . I was thinking about the outrage against Toni Gonzaga on Toni Talks . Toni herself was known to have said, "We will rise again." after the ABiaS-CBN franchise was denied. I'm still laughing at the irony of the ABiaS-CBN franchise denial - it was caused by the VERY LAW that they defended. Now, Toni interviews Bongbong Marcos AND there's some outrage towards her. I really find this laughable. I'm wondering is there a petition to fire Toni from ABiaS-CBN. So far, Toni had interviewed Leni Loud Robredo prior to Bongbong. Toni has also interviewed Isko Moreno and Manny Pacquiao. These are all

How The K-Drama "Lawless Lawyer" Is A Greater Eye Opener Than "Ang Probinsyano"

I remembered the time when I actually compared Vincenzo and Kill It to Ang Probinsyano . Now, I also recollect the case of Antonio F. Trillanes IV being a fan of Ang Probinsyano . I just want to laugh even harder when I said that Korean crime drama will always be better than the misadventures of Cardo Dalisay . I decided to watch Lawless Lawyer on Netflix (watch it before it might be gone) since I wanted another legal Korean drama to watch. While watching it - I really think about how Lawless Lawyer might be an even greater eye-opener than Ang Probinsyano .  The show has a lawless city called Kisung - a fictional town created solely for the show. The main character Bong Sang Pil (Lee Joon Ki) shows off some genuine fight moves that will put Coconuts Martin to shame. He's a lawyer who realizes that the lawless city of Kisung suffers from so many loopholes. Ha Ja Yi (Seo Ye Ji) is one hot-headed lawyer who punched a biased judge (who I wish would get named Martin after the late Mar

Did We Forget The Time Bongbong Marcos Was Interviewed By Kris Aquino In 1995?

1995 for some were the "simpler times" and also when we enjoyed bad reception on TV, right? I really could remember how the 1990s had some good and bad memories associated with it. A bit of a flashback will give us the details of Kris Aquino's interview with Bongbong Marcos - back when she was still relevant. Right now, I doubt it that the passing away of Noynoy Aquino could propel Kris into politics though the Liberal Party may prod her to do so. Hopefully not considering she isn't well and people should also stop harassing her - the fame she has is now GONE. Now, Bongbong became a congressman in 1995 and Noynoy became one in 1998. Both were scions of powerful clans whose innocence is REALLY questionable. Why all the outrage for Toni Gonzaga's interview with Bongbong? Again, I'm not denying that the Marcos Years weren't the golden years . However, the Noynoy years weren't the golden years either as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) alone isn't a measur

The Problem Of The ONE-SIDED Anti-Marcos Narrative

Before you react - know that I don't have any political color right now. This is NOT an attempt to exonerate the Marcos Years of the BRUTAL CRIMES that they've committed. Rather, this is to have a more fair view of history. I'm not going to deny that the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. was indeed a tyrant. Now, there's more outrage from ABiaS-CBN's very own Toni Gonzaga when she interviewed Bongbong Marcos on her Youtube channel. Yes, until now, ABiaS-CBN is still OPEN FOR BUSINESS even after its franchise was revoked due to the lousy 1987 Constitution. Now, the recent reactions done towards Toni herself are so uncalled for. Sure, I want to hear the talks from martial law victims. However, not every person arrested during martial law was innocent such as Jose Maria Sion. Maybe, until now, the late Ninoy Aquino's status as a hero is debatable yet he also revealed the truth that the Marcos Years were NOT under a real parliamentary .  Let us restudy the Marcos Years
