The Philippines Is Stuck In The "Pwede Na Yan" Mentality Because Of The CURRENT SYSTEM

I was reading across through Benign0's posts at Get Real Philippines and I'm amazed the guy somehow doesn't get it. One of his latest posts is about the Pwede Na Yan mentality . I'm still amazed at Benign0's logic but he does have this a bit of the point though he may once again miss the point: Even if the best of them COVID-19 vaccine options were actually available in the Philippines, it is unlikely that the way they will be distributed will do justice to them. Using the Philippines’ public transport situation as an example again, it is like how importing the most modern buses and trains in the world won’t matter if the system that they will be put into service within sucks. Think of it for a minute — modern buses that cost 200 thousand dollars a piece deployed to jeepney routes. It’ll be an utter waste! So clueless Benign0 manages to talk about the yes, the F*CKING SYSTEM. Sorry if I have to put some foul words but there are times you need to do so. The issue is ...

The Naked Truth About The Metro Manila Film Festival

It's time for that year called the Metro Manila Film Festival - better yet renamed as the Imperial Manila Film Festival , right? It's time for the event to face the naked truth that they have probably refused to even face. What's this naked truth that needs to be faced about the Metro Manila Film Festival ? It would be shown as a celebration of mediocrity or as termed in the Tagalog phrase, "Pwede Na Yan". Back then, I remembered there were some good Filipino films to watch. One of them was the film Anak which was about OFW families. The film Madrasta was also worthy of foreign nomination. Today, a lot of these films are just mediocre. In fact, back in 2011, Get Real Philippines did write an article that says  Filipino films just don't make us think . The title is a rude generalization BUT one can think of how it may become a generalization sooner or later. The film festival isn't really doing any good for Filipino films. Instead, the film festival ma...

Can You Imagine #SeaGames2019 Under President Roxas And Vice President Trillanes?

I remembered writing a bit of Mar/Trillanes jokes and among them is linked to #ASEAN2017 . After reading some Get Real Philippines articles on #SeaGames2019 - I decided to revive the jokes on what if Mar Roxas and Antonio Trillanes IV as president and vice president. Right now, you can imagine the stupidity of what if #SeaGames2019 were under President Roxas and Vice President Trillanes. We can always start with the obvious. We may be seeing the presidential car driving both President Roxas and Vice President Trillanes to the already worsening Ninoy Aquino International Airport . We will have both of them volunteering to carry the luggage of the athletes while they're surrounded by the mainstream media. Then you can imagine how Vice President Trillanes may end up irritating the guests by talking and talking. It can be worsened by President Roxas requesting a pose from the honored guests. He would want to pose with him carrying their luggage to improve his already declining rati...

The Filipino People Need More Discipline, Not More Democracy

Democracy or democrazy? Some people tend to call me a dictator because I propose for a disciplinarian government along with the fact that  I applaud Singapore as one model for progress . Aside from my posts on having a  well-balanced economy  - I would also propose it's time for the Philippines to really learn discipline. I would like to address the fact that the Philippines cannot really expect progress unless  people first learn to follow guidelines . If you observe day by day, a lot of Filipinos do not practice any discipline. Do observe how many of them just throw their garbage anywhere in contrast to those who throw their garbage in the right places. You can see how  reckless driving  is very rampant no thanks to loose traffic enforcement. Go to the government office and you can see people who refuse to line up properly and workers who refuse to do them properly. In short, it's all a result of not following guidelines. If the government starts imp...

A Parliamentary System Can Greatly Help Improve Government Office Performance

It just reminded me of how there's a slogan that says, "Want to earn money while sleeping? Work for the government!" That's really what I'd call something that should never be and never be done. A government is what keeps said country in control. Government agencies are supposed to be there to help regulate society in its functions. However, you have the problem of government agencies that fail to do their job because of a scenario government offices have become an escape route when you get fired from your regular private job. But is the problem to why that's happening  just the people or the system itself ? So how can a parliamentary system fix the current problems of government offices and underperformance in contrast to a presidential system? Presidential is all about popularity-based system -- both the majority and minority bloc are only focused on popularity than credibility. On the other hand, a parliamentary system has both blocs focused head-on in ...

How Can Agot Isidro Talk About A #CultureOfMediocrity While Supporting Noynoy's Mediocrity?

After all the Dilawans' claim to fight fake news while spreading fake news themselves  then it's no surprise that Agot Isidro now dares to claim they are fighting against a #cultureofmediocrity. It shouldn't be too surprising considering their double standard hypocrisy. They call anything that disagrees with them as fake news. She herself dares to talk about a culture of mediocrity when the Noynoying Years  which were NOT the golden years of the Philippines. I think about it that it's no surprise Atty. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta is now frequently targeted by the Dilawan . One of them even want to derail Atty. Acosta's investigation of the Dengvaxia. Hmmm how can she even talk about "Don't put words into my mouth." all the while the Dilawans are doing so. What they did to Atty. Acosta is no surprise. They are derailing her because she criticized their beloved Atty. Chito Gascon. She needs to realize that Atty. Gascon is the one doing a culture of medioc...

#NeverAgain To #PwedeNaYan Philippine National Defense

One of the biggest reasons why the Philippines is so easy to bully is because of a mediocre state of national defense. It's utterly pathetic to have a picture where the Philippines as a nation has become overly dependent on the United States of America  whenever something bad happens such as China's bullying while other countries bullied by the same country are standing firm. So if ever China made the Philippines its favorite bully target -- don't say it's because they are "jealous" of "Filipino superiority". On contrast, it's because bullies love to bully those who are defenseless and weak, right? Here's a bit of a picture of how bullying goes. Would you want to bully someone bigger or smaller than you? Would you want to bully a person alone or would you prefer where you are the majority bullying the minority? It's the same picture of why the Philippines ends up the way it is. No amount of Penoy Prayd will ever help the nation prote...

#KungHeiFatChoi: Applying Confucian Principles With Economic And Constitutional Reform

Although I don't agree with everything Confucius says but I agree with a lot of things he says. I decided to try and make an essay on applying Confucian principles to economic reform since it's Chinese New Year. We could start with the basics such as the quote above or the golden rule. Here's the basic plan. There's the need to plant rice, plant trees and EDUCATE children. How can the Philippines be rice sufficient and tree sufficient if there are no laws against the overuse of natural resources as well as squatters are very well-tolerated ? How can we educate children properly if the schools are plagued with so much PNoy Pride and there's not much done to strengthen the economic literacy of Filipino children ? I support K+12 but it still needs to be accompanied by CoRRECT's three point agenda . It sounds simple but it isn't easy to implement. Not satisfied with just the simple quote -- I decided to do some research and found some interesting infor...

Crowning Jover Laurio As Filipino Of The Year Proves Dilawan Standard Is Very Much #PwedeNaYan

There's the phrase "Tatak Pinoy" (Trademark Pinoy) or "Ang Galing Ng Pinoy" (How good or great is the Pinoy) which can be true or false depending on circumstances. This is the real issue now is the crowning of Jover Laurio as Filipino of the year can put every single Filipino in hot water. With that case, it should be a shame to give positive Tagalog phrases with the word Pinoy attached to her. It's because there's a difference between the Pinoy and the PNoy . She's not a source of Pinoy Pride but PNoy Pride. Every decent Pinoy would be ashamed of her. I tried reading through Pinoy Ako Blog (PNoy Ako Blog) and it's really substandard and anti-intellectual yet Ateneo De Manila University awarded her for it. This shows what's wrong with the 31 years years after EDSA Revolution. The Philippines has been left with more problems than what the Marcos Regime left behind. They could have taken the good out of Marcos and throw away the bad. Instea...

Pwede Na Yan Mentality Led To #SAGASA2016

Today in history is the failed #Sagasa2016  event. I guess many people wanted to see both Noynoy Aquino and Joseph Pabaya get ran over by a train, right? As the year ends, I decided to write this post before it's 12:00 Midnight or January 1st at 12:00 A.M. So how did the whole problem start? Three words "Pwede Na Yan" or "that will do" in English. You could consider how neglect on the part of Pabaya gives him the best renaming of all. While his real name is Joseph Emilio A. Abaya but he got called as Pabaya for his lousy performance. Noynoy's refusal to dismiss Pabaya for his lousy performance would have also contributed to the deterioration. Is it possible that Noynoy thought that as long as there's still an operational train and people can still breathe instead the crammed MRT then pwede na yan? If he thinks that those two will do then he's already sadly mistaken. When you refuse to do maintenance check then you can expect performance to deter...

Hardworking Filipinos Find Themselves In The Same Situation As The Third Little Pig

Do you remember the story of the Three Little Pigs? Sometimes, there are stories that we know aren't real but we end up getting a lesson from them. In fact, some stories were meant to impart hard lessons in an entertaining way. One of those stories you might remember is the Three Little Pigs. The story involved three pig brothers who had to move out of their mother's house. The first pig built a house of straw. The second pig built a house of sticks. The third pig built a house of bricks. The wolf with his super power breath came in and only the brick house stood. Depending on the version you read you may end up with the plot where the first two pigs were eaten by the wolf.  How relevant is the story of the Three Little Pigs to Filipino society? You may find that one out of three Filipinos think like the third little pig. Two out of three Filipinos think like the first two pigs. In a culture where Pwede Na Yan  has become the normal way for a lot of Filipinos. The first...

Why Throwing Out An Incompetence-Based System Should Come First

It's very easy to say we should weak out incompetent people but is that enough? If you remembered I wrote that the dysfunctional 1987 constitution should go kaboom first . It's time we discuss about why we need a competency based system before we can effectively weed out the incompetent. It's the chicken and the egg. There has to be system change first or there should be a set of rules first before you can expect changes. Waiting for Filipinos to change is just like waiting for thievery to stop before you set rules against it. Trying to get rid of weeds in your garden without the right tools and methods will just tire out the gardener.  Replacing the popularity-based presidential-unitary system with the competency-based parliamentary-federal system I agree that the Philippines as a nation should go federal. After reading the basics of federalism it's nice to know how the country can be decongested. The country is plagued with a democracy meant for stupid peop...

How Teleseryes Promote The Pwede Na Yan Culture To Its Viewers

Teleseryes will never be world class nor will they really make big time to the foreign market . You can go ahead and get mad  t me all you want but teleseryes are part of the Pwede Na Yan culture . So how are teleseryes really part of the pwede na yan? Here's how it goes: Basta may script tayo pwede na yan Good writing or seeking to improve one's writing has never been part of the teleserye trend. Sure Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Japanese drama, Korean drama, Taiwanese drama, etc. do have their bad moments but the difference is they keep learning from their mistakes and bad seasons are pretty much 1 out of 10/100/1000 compared to teleseryes. Teleseryes just submit the script for the sake of having a script. Basta may mga artista na magpalabas pwede na yan There's really no real priority of getting actors who could act or at least help them in how to act better. The TV stations could care less as long as there's a cast to carry out the teleserye. One good exa...
