Excessive Libel Laws Only Serve To Cater Towards Easily Offended People

It's very easy to claim to be manly or to be strong especially if somebody outright refuses to engage in your nonsense battles. However, let a real fight kick in or let people get offended then you can expect all the victim playing done by these losers. They may even want someone to just stop blogging please because their precious feelings have been hurt. Then you do have the problem of the unjust libel clause of the cybercrime law last 2012. It's so stupid to jail someone all because they got offended over the Internet. While the digital age is indeed a call for great responsibility (remember the Spiderman quote) but shouldn't cybercrime me more applicable to hacking into somebody's privacy and stealing their data? Shouldn't name-calling or gossiping be ignored as much as possible - unless said gossip really HARMED somebody's life like what Maria Ressa did with Wilfredo Keng ? I remembered how there was this stupid policy that said Internet libel could land...

When Do I Think People Should Be Allowed And Not Allowed To Sue For Someone For Libel

While I do think that libel laws in the Philippines can be very excessive yet one can't deny that libel must still remain criminally liable in certain cases. While I don't agree with the libel clause of the cybercrime law where it says that people can be sued for SIMPLY sharing, commenting and posting. While there shouldn't be room for onion-skinned people , I think certain libel cases need to be relaxed but there are some cases of libel that should still remain as a criminal offense. Why I'm writing this is because of the current incident with CRappler and what it did to Filipino-Chinese businessman Wilfredo Keng. Was this a very act of antagonism because CRappler didn't like said person? The problem wouldn't lay so much on CRappler badmouthing him but the damage that it caused. I believe that libel should just be ignored unless it has caused severe dishonor, discredit or contempt towards a natural person, or to malign the memory of the dead with a malic...
