My Reaction To North Cebu Helping South Cebu

Although Cebu has its issues but it has learned to manage its issues.  The issues of Cebu Air Pacific may not be as severe as NAIA (but still needs to be addressed).  Now what's going in Cebu is that with the disasters such as Yolanda, Ruby and Seniang.... both parts of Cebu are helping each other as I've read from Sun Star yesterday .  What do I think? I had some face-desk with the complaint addressed by Ronda, Cebu mayor Mariano Blanco III.  It was something to do with the DSWD (better known as the Department of Social Wreckage and Destruction thanks to Stinky Soliman) which I also read from Sunstar .  He said, "In my case, I failed to submit a request for help from DSWD because I am busy helping my constituents. Besides, our office supplies are all wet because of the flood. So, we are not given relief goods? What kind of welfare agency is DSWD?" Moving on, how is it helping that North Cebu is helping South Cebu?  This kind of activity will foster te...

My Reaction to Cebu City Sending Help to Eastern Samar

I have read from Sun Star that Cebu City just sent a team to help Eastern Samar recover from Typhoon Ruby.  Now let me share my thoughts.  It's nice to know Cebu City sent help for Yolanda not just last year but also this year.  Some local Cebuano non-government charities also helped and City Hall is lending a helping hand, something that the Nobitacratic government has failed to do. So what is CCDRRMC doing?  It's sending its team of electricians, carpenters, tree cutters, traffic enforcers and other personnel.  It also will clear out fallen trees, repair classrooms and hand over relief goods, none from Corazon "Stinky" Soliman.  They will also show films on disaster awareness to educate the people.  It's a good thing they are taking the initiative without waiting for Imperial Manila's mandate.  It's a good thing that Cebu City is trying to model itself to become a model for Philippine development.  What is better is that they are willi...

Cebu's Disaster Preparedness is A Good Thing!

I was reading the papers realizing that  Cebu is getting ready just in case Typhoon Ruby hits .  One of the reasons why Cebu has become progressive is because of disaster awareness.  It made me think of the following details that makes Cebu indeed a progressive part of the Philippines: Billboard owners have begun to take down their ads to prevent disasters.  Typhoons and billboards make a bad mix. CCDRRMC teams started to check evacuation sites making sure they have electricity and water supply. Policemen were requested not to make a leave this week to make sure that there will be enough manpower to assist in evacuation. They have also learned their lesson from the Typhoon Yolanda incident. No facility along the shoreline will be used as an evacuation center. Warning is also given not to give fake messages to avoid the "Chona Mae Incident". Immediate evacuation was done as a precaution. An open eye for the weather is being kept just in case. So how ca...

My Reaction to Filinvest Opening Cyberzone Tower 1 in Cebu City

So we have his honor Mayor Michael Rama at the center and at his left, Governor Hilario Davide II at the soft opening of Cyberzone Tower 1.  You can read the story here at the Sunstar Website.  This is done by Filinvest Land Incorporated.   Here's some important facts that show Cebu is booming accompanied by my opinions: The projection of generating 100,000 jobs by 2020.  This ten story tower will be operational by next year It would be good news to operate 100,000 jobs for Cebu by 2020.  Although results will not be instantaneous but one can see that when a city is worth investing, jobs will be created.  This will be a good continuation of Cebu being a job provider.  With Cebu's emerging market, the rest of the Philippines should try to open up the economy, set peace and order right and think.. lesser and lesser Filipinos will need to go abroad in search for jobs. There is a high trust with Cebu Province and its governor Trust ...

Cebu's Development Will Attract More Tourists Than Preposterous Marketing!

The Philippines last 2010 had its slogan "It's More Fun in the Philippines". However is it really more fun in the Philippines? Not really. As said, marketing is a powerful tool but used wrongly, it can horribly backfire. Now let's take a look at Cebu throughout the years. Cebu was advertised as the Queen City of the South. One may think of Cebu's development throughout the years was slow but it did start to pay off. So why did Cebu attract foreigners in spite of the Philippines' conditions? One can think of the Cebuano experience is certainly a plus factor in the Philippines. You cannot deny that Cebu in the later years had become attractive to investment. IT Park is one proof of that investment. There are still many others that makes Cebu indeed attractive to tourists without flashing, "It's More Fun in Cebu". You don't need to put "more" with fun if your product really testifies itself. Word of mouth has a much bigger impact in...

Lessons from Cebu's Lechon: Making Sacrifices for Greater Happiness!

Cebu's lechon or roasted pig is indeed a very tasty treat.  I could testify that lechon from Cebu really has a much better taste than lechon from Manila.  CnT Lechon is indeed one of the biggest symbols of the Cebuano food industry with its slogan "The Taste of Cebuano" and its outlets are a tourist hit.  Now I just thought of Cebu's lechon and why it's very tasty. Cebu's lechon when you think of it has a unique infusion of spices.  It's slowly cooked and roasted to perfection and high satisfaction.  Even some people I know who prepare lechon say the process is indeed tedious but it is worth it.  When I hear of all its difficult processes, I would admit that my mind BOGGLES thinking about it.  It's a very meticulous process and mind you, you cannot get wrong.  One wrong mistake makes the lechon a disaster.  I've seen how the preparation take place... at least on Youtube.  All I can say is, it's not easy. It's no easy preparation put...

Salutations to A Stronger Drive Against Illegal Drugs in Cebu Island!

It's a huge sigh of relief to think that Cebu's police force is doing everything they can to battle illegal drugs.  Although it's not as strong as Singapore (hopefully it will be)... one cannot deny this data from Sun Star news . Here's the statistics based on the news: 2013 had at least 1,759 people arrested for illegal drugs.  This year up to November 15 there were at least 2,750 people arrested for illegal drugs. Last year's shabu drive caught at least PHP 44,044,326 worth of Cebu.  This year, it's a much bigger catch with PHP 107,346.940 worth of shabu. So what can we learn from this?  With Cebu being strong against crime, having better law enforcement, isn't it any wonder why investment went stronger?   Here's something worth applauding about Senior Superintendent Conrado Capa based on the news.  Just think... he revealed that they are doing their best.  He also acknowledges that Cebu still has a long way to go and they won't be c...
