#HappyAnniverSARA: ABiaS-CBN Still Didn't Learn Its Lesson, Right?

It's one year since May 5, 2020, when the ABiaS-CBN franchise controversy struck. I'm really amazed that even after one year - ABiaS-CBN's massive failure of the mind still continues. I wonder do the people running the network realize they SHOT THEMSELVES at the foot? They could've supported constitutional reform for their OWN BENEFIT but didn't. Manila Times writer Rigoberto Tiglao managed to expose the fact that ABiaS-CBN did have a certain degree of foreign ownership - something that's currently PROHIBITED in the current constitution. The citizenship of Gabby Lopez wouldn't matter anymore if he was Filipino, American, or EVEN BOTH if it wasn't for the 100% Pinoy-only media stupidity. ABiaS-CBN could've gotten away with an American citizen as part of its owners, having a certain degree of foreign ownership, or even benefit from the digital age (hence franchise may even be UNNECESSARY FOR THEM) IF THEY SUPPORTED CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM.

ABiaS-CBN is still trying to play the victim as if was truly gagged. Let's not kid ourselves. Unlike the Marcos Years - ABiaS-CBN still has its BUSINESS PERMIT to operate. Meanwhile, some people are still protesting "NO TO ABS-CBN SHUTDOWN!" as if the network is rendered inoperative. Karen Devila is still on duty with her co-reporters on ABiaS-CBN News Channel (ANC). The Kapamilya Channel is still on SkyCable. ABiaS-CBN still has social media to do its work. I don't see any government padlock at the gates of ABiaS-CBN. I mean, the misadventures of Cardo Dalisay are STILL CONTINUING on the Kapamilya Channel. Their lack of preparation is something. If the economy was opened up years ago resulting with the Philippines would've had faster Internet. ABiaS-CBN would've probably either kissed the franchise goodbye (for them to focus as a digital media) or still had a franchise even with all the foreign investments in it. I don't care if ABiaS-CBN can continue to operate - what I care is lousy economic provisions are gotten rid of. They want to look like victims online but HOW MANY are SIGNING the 1M signatures for its renewal? It's been a year since and guess what - barely HALF even signed! The noise barrage rally had more flies than people attending it, too. If it was an issue of freedom of speech then why are they STILL OPERATIONAL?

I could also talk about the quality of the teleseryes is still THAT BAD. For one, they're still pouring in investments in Ang Probinsyano or better renamed as The Misadventures of Cardo Dalisay. The quality of the teleseryes is still focused on dragging, extremely long series where quality control is close to impossible. I would really say that it's probable that GMA-7 already has the right to air Vincenzo. I mean, ABiaS-CBN could've chosen a better strategy but probably chose to pay someone at PEP.ph to write such an absurd article. I mean, they could choose to FINALLY give The Misadventures of Cardo Dalisay a finale but chose not to. Instead, they decided to try and promote it all over again. They could've gotten a better road by choosing to air a K-Drama not on Netflix with a similar atmosphere (ex. Kill It and Justice) and I hate to admit it, let Shaina Magdayao voice both characters acted out by Korean actress Jin A Nana. For one, I'd say that Kill It had better thrill factor than Vincenzo. Kill It is the series that may make you wish that Cardo Dalisay's misadventures will finally end.

Need I mention the attitude of the celebrities? The celebrities themselves could've had more credibility if they were more focused on defeating COVID-19. Last year, we need to remember that K-Drama celebrities gave their flood of donations while Kapamilya celebrities gave their flood of rants. I still can't help but laugh at the hand gestures. The Kapamilya celebrities put their network over COVID-19. Meanwhile, Korean celebrities did the thumbs up giving their generous donations here and there. Eventually, the stupidity continued this year such as Angel Locsin Colmenares' failed birthday pantry - an incident that was far more stupid than Debold Sinas' surprise party. Sinas was wrong but it was just his friends. Angel's pantry had 300 visitors and at least 10,000 people need to be contact-traced as a result. They really need to ask themselves if they contributed anything helpful. If they wanted to help then they should've discouraged the noise barrage rally or any activity that could lead to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Manila.

Are they really hoping 2022 will be in their favor? They better not and simply focus on supporting constitutional reform instead. #OtsoDirestso already lost the race last 2019. What makes me think that Leni Loud Robredo could be president. Can they be sure that Leni Loud can automatically give them their franchise back? Their lack of direction even after a year their franchise expired is just amazingly crazy.
