Why I Think 'Ang Probinsyano' Is An UTTERLY POINTLESS Teleserye

We could face the reality that ABiaS-CBN shutdown is might just be around the corner. Whether President Rodrigo R. Duterte will change his mind about the station will no longer make a difference. It would be up to Congress if the whole station will be given its franchise renewal or it. However, I don't even want to prioritize it because it's more important to remove the negative list from the 1987 Constitution COMPLETELY. I didn't originally want to comment on Coconuts Martin (just a nickname I gave him because he's really gone coconuts) and his stance on ABiaS-CBN. However, to call the fight for its renewal is the fight of "every Filipino" is laughable. Just check out at how "many" people have signed the petition to reach one million signatures for its renewal. It's barely even reached half a million! Then it's impossible not to associate Martin here with the LONGEST, MOST POINTLESS teleserye ever known as Ang Probinsyano or The Provincial. I mean, the show ran from September 28, 2015 up to present. Like, how long has it been already with its MONDAY TO FRIDAY. TBH, I think I'd rather rewatch the old film by the late Fernando Poe Jr. than watch this pointless mess of a series.

The big problem of teleseryes has always been the length and the duration shown per day. I don't really mind a long series if it's interesting. However, we can observe the problem of teleseryes is that the Monday to Friday scheduling pressures writers too much. I tried writing a story without giving pause and everything just goes from bad to worse. The writers have to hurriedly write the scripts and there's not much time to proof-read the script. The series may have been divided into several arcs but as it progressed - things are just getting uglier and uglier. Need I mention that Martin himself ends up like Hercule (Mr. Satan in Japanese) in the Dragon Ball franchise? Maybe, I'm too used to the quality films that Poe produced that Martin just becomes laughable.

A fan of the show can argue that the long series has seasons. Some shows such as One Piece or that Dragon Ball series is also long. Well, one thing is certain that One Piece is really going around TOO LONG and that's why I didn't invest in it. Dragon Ball is a series (with GT getting written off as non-canon in exchange for Super) that doesn't get a new issue or episode on a near-daily basis which allowed quality checks from the whole crew. The same can't be said about Ang Probinsyano if it wants to be like One Piece. Ang Probinsyano is based on a static narrative. I hear that One Piece is that it doesn't have a static narrative where new seasons means the series is reinventing itself. Obviously when it comes to a long series - you know where you'd want to be in, right? If I had to watch all the way from episode 1 to understand the most recent episode of Ang Probinsyano then no thanks! Maybe, dividing it by seasons made it a little more watchable than the 90s version of Mula Sa Puso (From the Heart) but it's still not excusable either, right?

Was the series thinking that the network that houses it will just go on forever and forever? Well, I guess they never considered that ABiaS-CBN may no longer have strong support. I did mention earlier at how the petition barely reached half a million? I'm really wondering if ABiaS-CBN's closure will be where Ang Probinsyano will inevitably end, right?
