The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Ressa can be considered ridiculous. For some, it's a slap against the face of the outgoing President Rodrigo R. Duterte. Some wokes are posting and saying that the victory of Ressa is a victory for the Filipino people. That's why I even wonder if Antonio Trillanes IV and one of his closest allies, Jover Laurio, may be the next nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize. With that in mind - I wouldn't mind if the Nobel Foundation will also name one person for the Nobel Peace Prize namely Rep. Sarah Jane I. Elago Elgago of Kayabangan Partylist. Elgago has some supporters that may want to see her nominated or even win the award after Ressa got her awards.
It should be noted that before Ressa got her award - the Rappler organization once questioned if the Nobel Peace Prize has lost its prestige. I'm thankful that there are still some less biased reporters like Pia Ranada and Cheche Lazarro in the same organization. If freedom of press were truly attacked then why isn't Ressa even behind bars? Ressa was able to post bail more than once. Duterte even "congratulated" Ressa or even told Time magazine that Ressa was all theirs. With that, I'm even thinking that Elgago herself may actually get the Nobel Peace Prize nomination or even the award itself along with Trillanes.
How will Elgago's supporters try to justify her nomination should it happen? They may consider her to be a critical-minded person. True, critical mindedness is part of healthy living. For example, Karen Davila has the right to be critical-minded of the Duterte Administration and people should be critical of ANY administration's shortcomings. Others may say that she embodies the ideals of the young people or as the youngest congresswoman like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the USA. Others may also nominate Elgago because she went to the Nepa-Q Mart to assess the plight of pork vendors. Her advocacies include education and free Wi-Fi. However, what's the use of advocating free Wi-Fi if she and her kind are against the liberalization of the economy?
I'm really thinking that Elgago getting a Nobel Peace Prize is a possibility waiting to happen. Chances are that it may be to dirty finger the next administration if ever Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat doesn't get the sequel it doesn't deserve. That is Ina Montecillo Vice President Leni Loud Robredo doesn't become the new president. Just hearing Leni Loud's "motherhood statements" makes me remember why I even found the movie to be that annoying. I mean, not even Shaina Magdayao's beauty could stop me from criticizing the film. That movie actually (and ironically) showed the perils of presidentialism. Hopefully, the film can be used to discourage Leni Loud from winning that slot. I can accept Leni Loud getting any position but president. I don't care if Leni Loud holds a cabinet position, continues her Angat Buhay program, or do whatever she can - just don't let her become president!
If ever it happens, I'm really not going to even sound the red alarm. Ressa winning the Nobel Peace Prize is proving how western liberals tend to be clueless or choose to be clueless. I don't even care, if ever, Trillanes will also win the Nobel Peace Prize. The fact that Mahatma Gandhi was nominated several times while he lived but NEVER WON is something worth questioning. Besides, there are already controversial winners. Let Elgago win her award if ever. That will further prove that the foundation has sunk away from the vision of Alfred Nobel.
