It's really something to think about the Maria Ressa got the Nobel Peace Prize. I think the nominees are now questionable especially with Greta Thunberg. However, before rejoicing, we need to think about ONE "AWARD" that Ressa got last 2020. Ressa has been receiving awards left and right from the western organizations. However, the big question is can Ressa TRULY rebuild her credibility in the Philippines? Ressa did get ONE "AWARD" that the likes of Pignoy Ako Blog couldn't talk about presumably out of shame - it's the SACKUR PUNCH AWARD! It was her interview on BBC HARDtalk with none other than, yours truly, Stephen Sackur.
I guess Ressa was pretty much caught unprepared. Ressa should've been aware of how both Antonio Trillanes IV and Maria Lourdes Sereno were grilled by the same man. Did Ressa think she can stand a chance? I think Ressa could've been prepared by watching the first two interviews. Instead, Ressa may have been caught off-guard as Sackur also shot her down. A lot of Sackur's statements made me LMAO while listening to the interview. I listened to the interview between them like it was a sitcom. Sackur did his homework. The result? Ressa also got the Sackur Punch Award too aside from Trillanes and Sereno.
The Nobel Peace Prize is now becoming a joke. What should've been an award ceremony of nobility has become a circus. Right now, one must wonder the credibility of westerners who think that they're "experts of the world". I'm not saying all the Nobel Peace Prize winners don't deserve their awards. However, controversy is really hard to avoid. I even wonder if Jover Laurio will soon get a Nobel Peace Prize too? Right now, I think Ressa should be controversial too. Ressa did make a fool out of herself on BBC HARDtalk. Now, she got the Nobel Peace Prize to "compliment" her Sackur Punch Award. Ironically, Rappler even wrote an article some time ago on whether or not the Nobel Peace Prize losing its prestige.
What might be NOT surprising is that Stephen Sackur has his British sarcasm. Sackur really wasn't impressed with Ressa during their interview together. Sackur doesn't even feel impressed NOW even with the Nobel Peace Prize. Using the words "courageous fight" is none other than his sarcasm at work. Sackur was a man who pretty much did his homework and awarded Ressa with the Sackur Punch Award last 2020. Was Sackur actually planning to have the whole interview aired during the award-winning ceremony? I'm amazed really that Sackur reacted. I wonder how he'd react if Antonio F. Trillanes IV also got the Nobel Peace Prize on that same year?Philippines journalist @mariaressa is joint recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize for her "courageous fight" to defend freedom of expression

Besides, UNTIL NOW, Rappler is far from shut down. Ressa who has been arrested a couple of times was ABLE TO POST BAIL. Ressa is still able to talk and talk. Until now, other members of the same news organization are still free as a bird. JC Punongbayad and Tony La Vina are still free as a bird. Toady Casino is still free as a bird. The real issue with Ressa might be her continuing case with Wilfredo Keng which may continue on even after the Duterte Administration ends. Maybe, Ressa can easily get cleared but justice isn't more fun in the Philippines.
