Leni Loud Robredo In "Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat"

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has become an online event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One film that I might check out later is Tagpuan though it may cost me PHP 250.00 - something I could use to get me a delicious value meal instead! Vice President Leni Loud Robredo is now that the "lady in waiting" that the "opposition" is hoping would replace President Rodrigo R. Duterte. The film Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat is now currently taken down from Netflix and I don't think it'll be back. Netflix takes down any film or series they rent when they don't intend to renew the contract with the owners. The film was shown during the reign of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who wanted to do system change. Now, it looks like Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat is partly becoming true with Leni Loud. The film in itself also showed the PERILS of the presidential system.

What do Leni Loud and Ina Montecillo have in common?

Okay, Ina is still MUCH WORSE than Leni Loud. Leni Loud would be the lesser evil if Ina were a real person. Not even Leni Loud is stupid enough to bet her money on horseracing nor is she a desperada (desperate) woman like Ina. Rumors of Leni Loud dating Jorge "Bolet" Banal should be taken with a grain of salt. The rumor Leni Loud had a late husband before Jesse Robredo was fake news. The wedding photo belonged to a Leni Loud doppelganger. Meanwhile, the one thing Leni Loud and Ina have in common is that they're both fond of talking nonsense, motherhood statements, short-term solutions, and that they're widows. However, Ina never had any previous political experience, unlike Leni Loud, who, at least, served as a congresswoman before becoming the incumbent vice president.

Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat (which was shown during MMFF last 2008 so I made an error in saying I watched it during college) made me think how bad things can get if Leni Loud were president. A lot of Ina's solutions were nonsensical (such as night high school for all and asking for free gasoline in exchange for rain dance) to the point of irritation. Ina usually just talked and talked. Isn't that what Leni Loud also does that she mostly just talks and talks? It's really that irritating to listen to. Listening to Leni Loud speak is nearly just as irritating as listening to Ina speak in the movie. I wonder why I even bothered to rewatch the movie completely twice. Though back then, it was just a guilty pleasure that I watched both Ang Tanging Ina movies because I had the hots for Shaina Magdayao who acted as Severina.

How the parliamentary system can prevent the rise of another Ang Tanging Ina?

Benign0's solutions call for band-aid solutions. However, the real solution is to SHIFT to the parliamentary system. It's because the presidential system is too focused on personalities and necropolitics. Just remember the cycle of the Aquinos - Ninoy Aquino died and Cory Aquino became president, Cory Aquino died and Noynoy Aquino became president. Leni Loud only got recognized after the great Jesse Robredo died in what could be foul play. Besides, you might as well prepare for more necropolitics if ever Noynoy suddenly dies (and Kris Aquino may run for president) or if Antonio F. Trillanes IV dies (and Arlene Trillanes will become the newest grieving widow).

The difference between parliamentary elections and presidential elections is this. Voters get to vote by party which will define (in turn) which party gets the Majority seats and which party gets the Minority seats. For example, if the Liberal Party gets the majority votes then they naturally win the majority setas. However, they must contend with the winners for the minority seats. If PDP-Laban gets the significant minority votes then they will automatically (and legally) be the Opposition. The ballot would list all the positions of the candidates such as saying that the Liberal Party has Leni Loud as its prime minister and PDP-Laban has Sara Duterte-Carpio as its prime minister. Sara would eventually become the Opposition Leader if Leni Loud is the prime minister.

The bigger issue is that parliamentary has weekly questioning. You can expect the Government and Opposition to have a formal debate on important issues. For instance, Leni Loud as the prime minister must now prove her statements (and not just make motherhood statements) to Sara as the opposition leader. Sara, on the other hand, must provide alternatives. It's also very important that everyone must attend the weekly questioning as much as possible. That would mean Leni Loud would need to delegate her tasks during times of disasters while presenting her relief plan. Sara then has the duty to check out Leni Loud's progress and give her alternatives. There's the imminent threat of a vote of no confidence when members of Parliament FAIL to perform their duties. That would be the best, safest way to prevent another Ang Tanging Ina from rising up.
