I'm just amazed at the current "opposition" deserves two terms namely ULOL (United Liberal Opposition Leaders) and GAGO (Group of Antagonistic Government Obstructionists). In fact, why not call the opposition as ULOL-GAGO because they are that? Yes, that's the acronyms fitting of them and names that would better fit comic book villains than actual gangs! Recently, this meme by the anti-intellectual Pignoy Ako Blog (PAB) is really worth something. Note that Edson C. Guido is a member of ABiaS-CBN and he even dares to say that shutting down the network will cause something bad on the Philippine economy... HUH?! Strangely, Guido is highly educated so why would he make such a remark? This really makes me think about the shortsightedness of the Opposition when they are now complaining about everything above the meme. Guido's statement might be best considered an exaggeration considering he thinks that ABiaS-CBN's shutdown will be a devastating blow to the economy.
The issue again is not whether they are pro-Duterte or anti-Duterte. Once again, the REAL PROBLEM arises NOT from criticizing President Duterte BUT the opposition's failure to give useful alternatives. I confess that I no longer like Duterte but I'll give credit is due. Unfortunately, PAB is just one good example of that. The next motion? People power? EDSA? #BlameDuterte? #OustDuterte? We had one EDSA last 1986 and it didn't bring a new golden age. Instead, the 1987 Constitution simply worsened a lot of stuff the Marcos Years had. I mean, why hate Marcos if you love economic protectionism? A simple restudy of the Marcos Years will realize his parliamentary system was a BASTARDIZED version, that he was into RAMPANT protectionism (aka crony capitalism), there was NO EPIDEMIC during his time yet he kept borrowing money resulting in huge debt. After kicking him out there was no real concrete plan to recover the Philippine economy from the ill effects of the Marcos Years. Also, 4Ps program is no different from the Nutribun program - both are built on feeding palamunins.
It's a shame really that Richard Heydarian himself seems to be a fanatic of the 1987 Constitution. Heydarian's best solution? Kick out Duterte and let Leni Loud Robredo become the new president! However, what's the guarantee that the same people who tag #LetLeniLead will not tag #LeniResign? While Leni Loud does make a point in saying we need to examine Taiwan and South Korea but is she really open to economic reforms? When Leni Loud met Singapore's deputy prime minister Teo Chee Hean did she really taken down notes? Worse, Leni Loud would rather let pasaways get a free pass. If that's the case then let her provide buses not for frontline workers but for pasaways too. Leni Loud's uncalled-for quote on pasaways makes me wonder if she's even following protocol when she's doing her job at Angat Buhay? Then again, what if Angat Buhay is actually helping pasaways instead of people who need help? It's just a hunch. Shouldn't Leni Loud address how to deal with pasaways than defend them? If so she should hold hands with Debold Sinas, Koko Pimentel, and Mocha Usok and dance with them.
What really caused the COVID-19 to skyrocket? There's more than just the government to look at. It wasn't really a sudden skyrocket but a lack of real action. Blame the government for everything? Please, the COVID-19 problem is not just a responsibility of the government but also OF THE PEOPLE. It's certain that frontliners are getting FED UP with pasaways. It's crazy how a certain UP Pasaway Guy also says that research shows that the rallies in the USA didn't lead to COVID-19. Yet, news from ABiaS-CBN even shows that UP-Diliman's 100 residents and employees got hit by COVID-19. Blame Duterte for his lack of action? Is Duterte really the only person responsible for COVID-19? Also, if there's a crisis then it's only natural to borrow money from other countries. Was Duterte using the money in the same fashion as Imelda Romualdez-Marcos? Just think about the ABiaS-CBN noise rally led by an angel of death and the UP Mananita before it (which Jover invited her readers to join) had a crowd. For those who say these events aren't alone to blame then consider also that the Squatterman Law itself also contributed to the rise of COVID-19. Why do you think the National Capital Region is now the new epicenter of COVID-19? Even ABiaS-CBN was forced to admit about the living conditions of squatters. Are you still thinking about being "humanitarian" to squatters?
It's also worth asking is, "After #OustDuterte, then what's next?" because it seems the opposition has no real plan. Leni Loud should be appreciated for providing transportation for frontline workers use only but does she have a long-term plan? The question is can a Leni Loud presidency lead the Philippines out of the tunnel of COVID-19? Besides, the opposition (if ever) is wishing for the government to fail then they don't see themselves that they too can be harmed in the process. Unless the ULOL-GAGO opposition has any REAL PLANS to FIX what they mentioned then STFU. If all their plan is #BlameDuterte and #OustDuterte then they can expect themselves to see a worsening situation. They should be focused on how to contain the virus, how to recover the economy (and yes, economic reforms are URGENT such as removing 60-40 entirely), AND make plans to pay off the debt incured during the crisis. If not, then they have failed the Filipino people because of how ULOL-GAGO they really are.
