Senator Cynthia Villar's tactlessness is uncalled for. Has she considered both sides of the coins that there are frontliners are doing THEIR BEST while pasaways are increasing. Cynthia's stupidity is probably just as bad, if not even worse, than Vice President Leni Loud Robredo. God forbid that we should have a Robredo-Villar administration this 2022! We need to consider that Leni Loud apparently wants to give pasaways a free pass when she said that they got nothing to do with the increase in cases? I wonder where she gets her ideas considering that COVID-19 is HIGHLY INFECTIOUS. A recent report (and yes, I'm using ABiaS-CBN news just to prove the network is far from shut down) that 100 UP-Diliman workers and campus residents got infected with COVID-19. Is that really anything to be proud about? While government should not get a free pass but neither should pasaways. It's really a bad case of a double standard to get mad at the stupidity of Mocha Usok's gathering and Debold Sinas' house party while they rally at UP Diliman and for ABiaS-CBN's franchise renewal.
The age-old question that's best frequently asked is how can Filipinos expect to have progress if they don't want to follow ANY simple guidelines? I even asked the question of how can Filipinos expect quarantine to succeed if they don't follow simple guidelines. Besides, the USA is proving itself that pasaways do indeed contribute to the rise in COVID-19 cases. I guess President Rodrigo R. Duterte is now suggesting to wash facemasks with gasoline and that he's not joking is probably due to him getting fed up with those who keep breaking the rules. Hopefully, Duterte will retract his statement as DOH shoots it down. However, it seems that Jover Laurio would rather blame the government alone than the pasaways. After all, her sponsor Leni Loud thinks so too, right?
This would be a test of common sense. How can they "party responsibly" like Jover who called for her in her post inviting people over to the Grand Mananita? Practice social distancing during the rally? Please, even with facemasks and faceshields on but what's the guarantee they don't remove it every now and then considering the lack of oxygen therein? When there's a crowd how can you practice one meter apart per person? Even the picture at the ABiaS-CBN night rally showed them very NEAR each other. A facemask and a face shield are not a 100% guarantee that they would not be infected by COVID-19. The gathering at UP-Diliman was truly, really questionable. How much more for the rallies under the HOT SUN? It would be very suffocating to stay long with a facemask and face shield on. Before the quarantine started - I really had no choice but to take off my facemask every time I got into a secure area to breathe easily. Could they even wash their hands in the rally? After the rally, did they take necessary precautions even to clean the place up? Nope, rallyists leave a lot of garbage which alone helps escalate COVID-19. Then the next "smart" move is to blame Duterte. Also to say that there's no "scientific proof" that rallies in the USA increased COVID-19 is sure defiance of basic high school biology. If a disease is contagious then isn't social distancing really required?
I'm not saying that people should buy into Duterte's crude advice to wash facemasks with gasoline. I wonder if Duterte was sarcastic when he said he wasn't joking about it. Regardless, it's a lack of common sense if you decide to follow such ill advice. Rather, it's all about whether they are Duterte supporter or not - do their part to lessen the impact of the virus. Former Taiwanese vice president Chen Chien Jen says that good behavior and social distancing work better than mass testing. Taiwan is winning the fight because of the disciplined population and the SYSTEM itself. What about Filipinos? Unfortunately, so many seem to be so proud of their being undisciplined as if it would make them "less Filipino". Nobody should associate being undisciplined with being Filipino. That's one mentality many Filipinos need to dissociate and associate disciplined with Filipino for a change. Besides, pasaways are demanding mass testing but are they even willing to follow simple guidelines?
That's why I'm advocating to put those pasaways under the TWAT status that is Totally Withhold ALL Treatment. We can make the frontliners' job easier only if people who still want to rally and rally sign the TWAT agreement. That is they can go outside without a facemask and necessary protective equipment, that they can party all they want BUT they must withhold all their rights to be treated in exchange. That is they must sign the TWAT card. I wonder was Duterte actually targeting the rallyists when he said to wash the facemasks in gasoline? While I do find that statement uncalled for but maybe he is. Embarrassments aside (and Duterte better take back his statement) - I wish the rallyists will be stupid enough to wash their facemasks in gasoline. Then again no sensible gasoline station is willing to comply with that. Also, the other advice pasaways may want is to take US President Donald J. Trump's drink disinfectant treatment. If they all get the TWAT treatment then they can have their alternative quarantine maybe in Oakwood or get themselves treated outside the government boundaries. Regardless, the pasaways really are also to blame for the increase in COVID-19 cases.
