Don't Criticize The Marcos Years If You Support Economic Protectionism

I don't want to dare deny that I don't go solid on any politician. Just because I don't support the Aquinos doesn't automatically mean I support the Marcoses. Just because the Noynoying Years weren't the golden years doesn't mean that the Marcos Years were the golden years either. You've got Aquino loyalists who want to ban the Marcoses from entering their campuses. I don't deny that the martial law years were abusive but let's get to more than just the abuses. Do they even know how the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. was actually holding a PROTECTIONIST REGIME. The 1987 Constitution (which is just a band-aid solution) isn't entirely to blame for decades-long state protectionism. You can thank the late Carlos P. Garcia for that too. That's why Marcos deserves to be buried at the mockery of a graveyard known as the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani or Graveyard of the Heroes.

It's stupid how there are Marcos critics who continue to demonize the Marcoses but praise the Aquinos. The best thing that the 1987 Constitution could've done for a start was to actually dismantle the long-state protectionist policy that enriched Marcos to start with. Instead, they simply continued the Filipino First policy which unfortunately caused Filipinos to fail. Removing presidential term limits was just a band-aid solution. Why didn't they just get rid of state protectionism which had to be slowly dismantled by Fidel V. Ramos, Joseph Estrada, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and in part, Noynoy Aquino?

If you want to start blaming the start of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) phenomenon - why not start blaming Marcos or even Garcia first? The need for OFWs is because of the decades-long economic protectionism even before the 1987 Constitution was formed. Would have the 1987 Constitution remove the protectionist clause when it was formed - there would be much less need to send Filipinos abroad because there would be more jobs for Filipinos. Instead, the Yellowtards still supported the very policy that strengthened their bitter rivals the Marcoses to start with.

Crony capitalism will always be the result of economic protectionism. It's pretty much like how socialism actually fails because it restricts competition in favor of "fairness". If you don't even know why the Marcos Years were terrible then why even bother criticizing it?
