It's really something when the pasaways want a free pass, don't they? Now, it turns out that Vice President Leni Loud Robredo now thinks that pasaways aren't to blame for the COVID-19 spike?! Well, while the government should indeed be held responsible for any screw-ups with the quarantine BUT people breaking BASIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS then they RISK infecting themselves. It's a two-way scenario where the government fails to examine its relief operations and when people would ignore COMMON SENSE health advice.
Now, Leni Loud has decided to jump in to defend the pasaways when she should call BOTH SIDES of the coin. True, the birthday party of Debold Sinas should have weighed penalty but that doesn't make the protestors any less guilty. In fact, Sinas' birthday party in his area vs. the UP Diliman June 12 Mananita (which Jover Laurio invited people to attend via her blog) gets you to wonder why is Leni Loud seemingly taking sides? She should be shooting down pasaways on BOTH directions? Leni Loud's statement in mind has me wondering why hasn't she defended Sinas and Koko Pimentel? Both Sinas and Pimentel are pasaways. I'd even say Francisco Duque is being pasaway. I guess Leni Loud wants to defend even the pasaway politicians now?
I don't know what's going on in Leni Loud's head. Is she trying to become a people-pleaser hoping to become president by 2022? This is really the problem of the presidential system - you're eventually forced to become a people pleaser. A lot of antics in the Philippines happen because of the presidential system. Joseph Estrada won with his Erap for the poor slogan. Noynoy Aquino won because of his promise for if there are no corrupt then there will be no poor slogan sprinkled with necropolitics. President Rodrigo R. Duterte won also because of his promise to fix the country in three to six months which is IMPOSSIBLE. You can consider on and on at how the presidential system will cause politicians to force themselves to lie and become people pleasers.
Then again, let's assume that #LetLeniLead happens. Pasaways will be wanting Leni Loud to lead. I think they will be tagging it over and over because they really want her to lead after what she said. However, her carelessness could soon lead to followers tagging #LeniResign. Maybe, it's because she would end up actually botching everything when she's overseeing everything. I could still credit her program Angat Buhay in the COVID-19 relief operations. Even Duterte is right to allow it to operate. However, if she decides to tolerate pasaways then she might end up worsening the problem. Chances are the same people who wanted her to lead will soon want her to resign.
However, let's just imagine Leni Loud in the parliamentary system. Let's just imagine if she had to face weekly questioning. Just imagine what if Leni Loud decided to tell the Parliament either as Deputy Prime Minister (assuming Liberal Party also won the majority seats with PDP-Laban) or any rank she will be in. It would raise the question against her, "Are you saying that we as the parliament should not do anything about pasaway civilians?" This would really cause whatever side she's in really throw her out. Sometimes, taking sides is uncalled for. Trying to side with pasaway politicians or pasaway civilians is like deciding between shabu and cocaine - both will harm your body!
This really makes you wonder why are the Yellowtards all too hostile against constitutional reform? If #OtsoDiretso supported constitutional reform then their anti-Duterte stance may have won. If they wanted to have a voice then they could've promoted the parliamentary system. But no, the Yellowtards even fought against reforms that could've benefited them. Is it because the Liberal Party is fond of promoting for popularity than credibility? That's where they ended up shooting themselves at the foot. I think Bum Aquino and Florin Hilbay could make good debaters. Why didn't they decide to support parliamentary? They should care more about the reputation of their party than whatever half-brained plan they have. Unfortunately, the whole Duterte vs. Leni Loud debate and personality competition has become their priority instead of improving their performance.
