Shaina Magdayao's Role As Roxanne Opena In "Ang Probinsyano" Doesn't Hold A Candle To Jin A Nana's Crime Drama Characters

It's time for yet another bit of random musing against the "all-time hit show" Ang Probinsyano. The show should've just ENDED years ago like any other show. Instead, it's still going on and on to the point of absurdity. I would be now thinking about how the addition of Shaina Magdayao into the show last February 20, 2020, which was prior to the lockdown due to the Legacy Virus pandemic. Not to mention, it was also at that time when ABiaS-CBN celebrities showed their attitude when they acted their network was more important than defeating COVID-19. I guess this another random musing since the inclusion of Shaina as Roxanne Opena in Ang Probinsyano is really, REALLY laughable. I just want to pour more salt into Ang Probinsyano not ever since their celebration of airing in AFRICA. Unless teleseryes start to air in first-world countries then there's nothing to celebrate about, right? IMHO, I also feel Shaina's addition is just for good looks and nothing more.

I remembered writing my review on Kill It which starred Jang Ki Yong as an anti-hero and Jin A Nana as a police officer. Kill It was an OCN drama series that aired from March 23, 2019, to April 28, 2019. I was looking at how Nana (though not THAT good) manages to act out her character as Do Hyun Jin. Until now, I still feel the action scenes in Ang Probinsyano are anything but applause-worthy. Try airing even the first 50 episodes of Ang Probinsyano in South Korea and they won't hold a candle to ANY Korean crime drama. I wonder if ABiaS-CBN was aware this series existed and decided to cast Shaina because of the facial similarities to Jin A Nana? The fight scenes of Nana in Kill It as a police officer are way more believable. Also, the uneasy alliance between Nana's character Do Hyung Jin and the anti-hero Kim So Hyun was more believable. Fortunately, Kill It ended as scheduled than stretch towards unbearable lengths. Yup, we saw So Hyun die with a shower of bullets - an ending that will probably fit well into Ang Probinsyano and maybe, have Roxanne cry. Though, I do end up laughing (more often than not) at Shaina crying.

Later, Nana (also in 2019) also starred in Justice as Prosecutor Seo Yeon Ah. Okay, I'm not going to deny I actually feel that Nana's looks got capitalized into The Ballot and Oh My Ladylord. Though, it doesn't seem to be the case in the upcoming K-Drama Glitch which will have Jeon Yeo Bin as the main character. I remembered getting invested in Justice where the plot of missing actresses is the whole main plot. Yeon Ah is a person who gets into an on/off relationship (and it ain't for laughs) with Lee Tae Kyung (Choi Jin Hyuk). Nana was able to do her role as a police officer to a prosecutor in the middle of a heated case. I think it would've been a waste of acting opportunities if Nana (until now) were still stuck in the role of Hyun Jin than explore other roles she could play as.

_______

Right now, Shaina is still stuck in the role as Roxanne. Then again, hasn't she been stuck in LOOOOONG roles because teleseryes are absurdly long? Though, I can't imagine if ABiaS-CBN decides to air both shows AND have Shaina voice both characters.
