Well, I thought my post on Noli De Castro's Aswang documentaries would be my final post. As it turns out, Get Real Philippines does have a post where they discussed that the current "opposition" is now politicizing #RollyPH. Yes, there's a storm that may arrive and it's best to get prepared. GRP even presented a screenshot of Paige Occenola's (a reporter from Rappler) statement who is now saying that ABS-CBN would be handy now that there's a strong typhoon. The big question that Paige needs to answer is whether or not ABiaS-CBN is really "shutdown". Sure, the franchise may be DENIED but ABIaS-CBN is NOT shutdown as a network and it still can operate without a franchise, it still has Internet and Cable TV.
This also reminds me of the time when I wrote about the problem of Typhoon Ambo and overreliance on ABiaS-CBN. Is ABiaS-CBN the only channel that provides life-saving news? I don't think so because there's still GMA-7 and TV-5. I feel the report that says ABiaS-CBN's franchise closure supposedly affected Filipinos in far-flung areas may not be believable. If it were true then that's the PRICE of monopolizing TV stations. I wonder what's the motive behind saying ABiaS-CBN will be handy. Is it because they want to look important or because they care about the Filipino people? I think it's just another desperate attempt to LOOK IMPORTANT. If so, it's probably not working because UNTIL NOW - the same petition to have one million signatures to renew ABiaS-CBN's franchise barely reached half a million!
Seems like it for ABiaS-CBN celebrities, right? |
Once again the BIG contrast really showed during the ABiaS-CBN franchise issue. The network itself is very irresponsible. ABiaS-CBN could've stayed ON AIR if it supported constitutional reform that would have allowed their foreign funding to be legalized (as long as they're taxed and declared properly), and Gabby Lopez's American citizenship made irrelevant. The citizenship of ANY businessman should be irrelevant as long as they don't do anything unethical such as employee mistreatment or not paying taxes. The citizenship will only matter in purchasing land in the Philippines or whether or not somebody will be deported for illegal activity after serving sentence. Reforming the constitution could've allowed ABiaS-CBN to openly accept foreign funding and Lopez to hold dual citizenship and not get into trouble with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, ABiaS-CBN kept fighting for the lousy 1987 Constitution - the same reason why they're OFF-AIR now. Also, the attitude of ABiaS-CBN celebrities was magnified to what's more important for them. South Korean celebrities were busy pouring out their donations to help beat COVID-19. Meanwhile, ABiaS-CBN celebrities were now uniting in hopes of getting their government franchise back, having that massive rally that would've helped the spread of the COVID-19. That's why I even wrote that an Angel of Death led the noise barrage rally. Their act really recklessly endangered the public. Common sense proves that social distancing is necessary to slowly stop the spread of the virus.
I'm exercising my RIGHT to doubt ABiaS-CBN's or the Yellowtards' sincerity in the matter of #RolyPH. For one, they've got IMBALANCED REPORTING that would favor whoever they felt was in their favor. Not to mention, Media Bias/Fact Check (which I heard is unreliable) even says that ABiaS-CBN is least biased but not for Philippine Daily Inquirer and Rappler. Besides, how many people still want it back on air anyway? I doubt it that much because the noise barrage rally had more flies than people attending it. They're just going to use more stunts which again will live the quote that insanity means trying the same thing ALL OVER AGAIN and expecting different results.
