I remembered writing a post where I asked if you would rather get infected by COVID-19 than to follow simple guidelines. I also wrote a post long ago where I asked if you'd rather commit suicide than follow the rules for discipline. Duterte supporter or whatever - it's time to put aside all political colors. Even President Rodrigo R. Duterte has decided to save Vice President Leni Loud Robredo's ass by firing PACC Chief Manuelito Luna for meddling with Angat Buhay. Now, it's time to ask if people would rather commit suicide than follow SIMPLE rules for community quarantine.
I may be no doctor but I'd like to say that people are probably at fault as to why the community quarantine got extended. Why would I dare say that people are probably at fault? We need to consider that Filipinos do have the tendency not to follow SIMPLE guidelines. You can consider the discipline in other countries. Just consider how Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan are currently doing their best to contain the virus. However, I do think that the recent incident in Singapore's 10x increase from 100 to 1000 infections is probably due to some pasaway OFWs who refuse to follow simple guidelines. Makes me wonder are they trying to "conquer" Singapore? They don't want to follow rules and then they blame the government. While the Philippine government has its failures, I do believe in the need for an upgraded constitution BUT people's cooperation also does matter. I think one reason why the ConCom draft is pending is due to LACK OF COOPERATION.
How does following simple guidelines go a long way? If you're advised to stay at home except if you have to buy necessities then do it. If you're advised to wear your facemask (and please Duterte and Bong Go follow that rule) to protect yourself and others then do it. Social distancing is required to stop the virus. A virus without a host will become a dead virus. If only more people started to follow the social distancing protocol then maybe the curve would've been flattened and partial lift of the quarantine would be possible. No, too many pasaways are still out breaking the rules. Maybe, just maybe, that also contributes to new cases that are not related to frontline workers. Not to mention, only if the squatting law didn't exist then I think flattening the curve would be way easier. But no, supporting squatters in the name of "humanitarian" along with economic protectionism has caused them increase exponentially. How can social distancing be practiced with squatters can even barely do it?
As said, the challenge right now is this. If you think that it's hopeless, that it's already a dictatorship, if you don't want to follow community quarantine to stop the spread of COVID-19 - you may consider COMMITTING SUICIDE IF YOU WANT TO. You'd probably be doing everyone a favor by actually reducing another obstacle to flattening the curve.
