Making It Fun in the Philippines

Well, I thought my post on Noli De Castro's Aswang documentaries  would be my final post. As it turns out, Get Real Philippines does have a post where they discussed that  the current "opposition" is now politicizing #RollyPH . Yes, there's a storm that may arrive and it's best to get prepared. GRP even presented a screenshot of Paige Occenola's (a reporter from Rappler) statement who is now saying that ABS-CBN would be handy now that there's a strong typhoon. The big question that Paige needs to answer is whether or not ABiaS-CBN is really "shutdown" . Sure, the franchise may be DENIED but ABIaS-CBN is NOT shutdown as a network and it still can operate without a franchise, it still has Internet and Cable TV.  This also reminds me of the time when I wrote about the problem of Typhoon Ambo and overreliance on ABiaS-CBN . Today is Halloween and it can't be denied. Halloween brings me back memories of the 90s and early 2000s with Magandang Gabi Bayan (Good Evening Nation) which had reporter Noli De Castro and Korina Sanchez-Roxas back when she was still single. One of their most "memorable" times was the MGB Halloween Special which had some rather scary reenactment accompanied by De Castro's really sensationalist, powerful voice. Fortunately, MGB ended in 2005 (I was still in college) though the memories are still there. I do feel there was this hidden trauma I had to the useless arguments I got as a teenager to when it was in college. I remembered how I got into arguments with people who kept insisting on the aswang stories they heard with their "best source" to be De Castro himself. Just lately, a term which I've overlooked for some time is called the hero complex. The term hero complex can be defined when a person strives to be the hero or heroine of the situation where they want to make it that they're the ones who save the day. Sometimes, the hero complex may also carry with it a selfish desire to look good at the expense of others or even one's self. This COVID-19 crisis may have also inadvertently revealed more of the typical hero complex among Pinoys. Some are doing all their lame virtue-signaling  even during the COVID-19 crisis such as in regards to the death of Baby River . Some of them are tweeting and writing whatever they could online to ruin the administration in hopes that they will look good. Last March, I also wrote an article where I mentioned that many Filipinos may have NO ONE to blame but themselves . The Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) hit so landlords have every reason not to ask for rent. However, ECQ was moved to GCQ because economic activity is already needed to PAY OFF COVID-19 related debts . That means under GCQ businesses are now allowed to operate first under skeletal capacity since August 2020. It also meant that tenants who refuse to pay rent after some time can be KICKED OUT already. It's a sad thing to announce the death of Chairman Lee Kun-Hee of Samsung  just today. We could really think about Samsung as a company. Samsung started on March 1, 1938, and it's still existing today. I could remember the time when Samsung wasn't much of a deal until 2011. Samsung ended up becoming a worthy competitor for the luxury brand Apple in the area of smartphones. Samsung had its smartphone beat the sales in i-Phone last 2011. Just a year later, Samsung vs. Apple became the trial of the century . It became one thing when Samsung showed itself worthy of its global brand status when it competed against Apple not only in its native soil but also around the world. Business magazine Forbes also wrote in its article " Samsung vs. Apple: Inside The Brutal War For Smartphone Dominance ". It's really a SAD day when you think that 23-year-old Kadamay member, Reina Mae Nasino's three-months-old daughter River died from pneumonia. I believe the hospital in-charge needs to be investigated if it was really a result of neglect that River died or was it beyond medical help that resulted in the tragedy. Reina who is a member of the COMMUNIST front known as Kadamay was arrested for charges on illegal possession of firearms and explosives . Just an activist and not a terrorist? What good has the KADAMAY organization ever done for te Philippines anyway? They are just a bunch of moochers. Karen Davila is what her fanbase would brag is a multi-awarded journalist. Going to the University of the Philippines to get a degree is no easy feat either. No one can deny her international awards. But the problem, just like Maria Ressa, is whether or these awards can still build her credibility AMONG FILIPINOS . The recent events really have me thinking that Davila herself may want to be scheduled for a BBC HARDtalk interview. The recent death of Kadamay member Reina May Nasino's three-month-old baby has her granting her "condolences". Davila's statement can be translated as "She's not a convicted criminal. she's not a drug trafficker. She was just an activist. Why so cruel to your fellow Filipino? Absolutely heartbreaking!"
