It's no surprise that Maria Ressa won an Emmy's Award. Now, it's time to give that award to another person. I'm talking about Maria Josephine "Jover" Laurio. Until now, it doesn't seem Stephen Sackur is ready to interview Jover at all. Ressa released a book called How to Stand Up to a Dictator. There are even forewords by Amar Clooney. If you remembered Jover's wedding - Ressa herself was also a principal sponsor for that wedding. That's why I even recommended Jover Laurio should get nominated for (or even win) the Nobel Fish Fries.
This is what I want to happen. I want Jover herself to update her book Resibo. This time, it will have forewords by Ressa herself. The title of the book should be Pinoy Ako Blog: How to Blog Against a Dictator. So far, the original Pinoy Ako Blog site is down and it's only a Facebook page now. Did the other people managing the site find it too expensive to host a domain? They could still use Wordpress or Blogger. Either way, I'd want to have Jover prepare this book where she claims to be fighting for press freedom. Though, former president Rodrigo R. Duterte NEVER had the Facebook page shut down nor Jover arrested.
Ressa herself can be of help. Ressa has been the CEO and founder of Rappler. Ressa could start with the forewords, write down her credentials (such as the awards from QUESTIONABLE ORGANIZATIONS), and help Jover out. Ressa was a godmother at Jover's wedding. I could imagine what Ressa would write in the forewords. It could come out as Jover as the "nobody blogger" who became a big-time fighter for press freedom. In fact, I felt Ressa getting the Nobel Fish Fries won't be as impressive if it were Jover who got it last 2021.
All I can say is let Jover write this book if she so wishes. Let Jover spill out her fantasies. Let Jover and Ressa get the job done. I could care less even if Jover will get the Golden Pen of Freedom Award next. I could care less if Jover will get press freedom awards from the clueless Western media. Though, all before that, Jover should get a BBC HARDtalk interview first!
