Leni Loud Robredo's Presidential Campaign Proves Presidential Elections Are Almost No Different Than Celebrity Events

The Loud House Encyclopedia

I don't exactly know how I feel (mixed emotions of laughter and facedesking) as Vice President Leni Loud Robredo (whose birthday was three days ago) is running for president. It's not a bit illegal for her to run. I feel like I'm watching Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat all over again - a movie that inadvertently warned us about the perils of presidentialism. I remember watching both Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat last 2008 and the first film during college. Now, it's even funnier how an episode of The Loud House even has the fictional Leni Loud run for mayor and even use PINK as her campaign color. The letters of Leni are written in YELLOW. I'm just laughing since the episode almost predicted the campaign of the real-life Leni Loud, Leni Loud Robredo.

I'm not surprised Kakapinks are now bragging about Leni Loud's celebrity endorsement. I'm not even surprised that Catriona Magnayon Gray is now endorsing Leni Loud as her candidate. What's even funnier is that Leni Loud even was crowned by House Speaker Lord Velasco and even went to an event with a crown and bouquet. I must laugh at the antics since they almost remind me of some scenes of Ina Montecillo's presidential campaign during the Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat film. I'm really feeling like I'm watching a comedy film. Though, it can become a bad comedy regardless if Leni Loud wins or not.

This is why I'm hating the presidential system. Back then, I always wondered why people keep voting for actors and athletes instead of real qualified people. I was told that's how democracy works. However, it's no longer a democracy if the voices of the minority are no longer heard. The majority wins but it should NEVER be a winner takes all scenario. Yet, that's what the presidential system does. The presidential system means your vote doesn't matter. In short, it doesn't matter how people may rally for Leni Loud to prevent Bobong Marcos from winning. If Bobong wins then he TAKES IT ALL. The contestants are always aiming to take it all. Presidentialism relies too much on popularity to win.

Meanwhile, a parliamentary system will be a big fix for these kinds of silly campaigns. Are you saying that the parliamentary system wouldn't work? The DDS vs. Dilawan setup just needs a parliamentary system before it can truly work. We could've had a weekly question hour (which in itself is a massive press conference) where Rodrigo R. Duterte could lead the government while the late Noynoy Aquino could've led the opposition. Duterte and Noynoy have their set of individual ministers to counter each other. Every minister of Duterte is answerable to every minister of Noynoy. Besides, the late Ninoy Aquino already said himself that the Marcos Years were a MOCK PARLIAMENTARY. In short, using the Marcos Years to say parliamentary will not work in the Philippines is baloney. It was a failed setup. Cesar Virata wasn't even a leader as Lee Kuan Yew stated him as a sitting duck. Besides, a real parliamentary would've totally made EDSA unnecessary since the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. could've been voted out.

If we want to stop having clowns in politics then the solution is constitutional reform. It's more than time to shift to parliamentary. The parliamentary system is party-based. It doesn't matter if Leni Loud or Bobong will become the prime minister. Prime ministers may get more than one term but it's determined by PERFORMANCE OVER A FIXED TERM. It's pretty much like, "Is the prime minister good? One more term!" and "Is the prime minister bad? Disqualified!" approach. Term limits need to be defined by performance over a fixed term. Prime ministers are even much easier to remove and hold accountable. It wouldn't matter if a prime minister rules for 20 years as long as there's an ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM led by a real formal opposition.

    2. Yep. Kinda. Although, Leni is one of my fave characters in the show. The specific episode is Electshunned from Season 5. But promise, the show is good.
