Don't Let The Coronavirus Ruin Friendships Between Filipinos And Chinese

I can understand the need to have a TEMPORARY ban on Chinese tourists from Hubei because of the recent Coronavirus. Even the Chinese government is setting a temporary ban for the infected citizens as a safety precaution - though I do still hate it for mistreating even its own citizens. You also have the problem of racist Filipinos (though it's pretty selective racism) where they tend to insult other races (such as a certain someone I know is always racist against Koreans). Then you have the recent sinophobe directed at people for simply being Chinese due to the recent Coronavirus epidemic in Wuhan China.

The Coronavirus did come from Wuhan but as said - Wuhan is NOT the whole of China. Some Chinese are indeed suffering from a consequence of unhealthy eating habits. Then again doesn't North Luzon have the bad reputation of eating dogs and cats? Don't some Filipinos also eat bats too? If anything, the Coronavirus may have been a result of bats flying between China and the Philippines and not from Chinese tourists. Personally, I want to get rid of any bat-related dish aside from dog and cat meat for safety reasons. Some Chinese even clash with the stupid Yulin festival which delights in all that useless animal cruelty.

Wuhan and Yulin DO NOT represent the entire Chinese people. Some Chinese people have gotten over the wild meat stupidity or eating dogs and cats. I don't go against dog and cat meat because I'm a pet guy - it's because of the high hazards of eating them. I've noticed SOME (not all) Filipinos have been so used to rude generalizations that it's easy for them to think that somebody is attacking every one of them. Well, thinkers doers, right? The Chinese people also hardly conform to their stupid government. Do you think that all Chinese were angry at the rightful decision of the Hague regarding Spratlys? I would say that some Chinese were probably more than happy to give up its rather shaky claim on the Spratlys if it means continuing their friendship with the Filipino people. Some Chinese can't even stand their own government's oppressive actions and still continue to make a stand.

Consider the difference between people living in China vs. people of Chinese descent who aren't Chinese by international law. I may be Chinese by blood but having been born and raised in the Philippines makes me a Filipino. The ethnicity hasn't been the issue of the Coronavirus nor the source of it. Healthy Chinese tourists or investors are welcome to the Philippines as long as they don't do anything stupid or unethical during their stay. Filipino-Chinese people are still Filipinos because they have become citizens of the Philippines. The Taiwanese may be Chinese by blood but they've already been long separated from China and that should be respected. Just because someone is of Chinese descent doesn't automatically mean he or she has the Coronavirus. The Coronavirus doesn't select people by ethnicity. Even non-Chinese can get infected or even die from the Coronavirus.

I could just think of this. I'm glad some Filipinos actually are now praying for the innocent Chinese civilians. Some of the are actually making it clear that they're protesting against China as a political entity and not against the Chinese people. They understand that not every Chinese had it coming. If Chinese doctors will be willing to help Filipinos give proper procedures to fight the Coronavirus then that's a very much welcome thing. The Coronavirus as deadly as it may get should never be an excuse to do sinophobic actions.
