Why NEITHER The Late Noynoy Aquino Nor Outgoing President Rodrigo R. Duterte Transformed The Philippines Into "Another Singapore"

I decided to write this one since the ka-epalan antics of Richard "Lucifer" Heydarian and his endorsement of outgoing Vice President Leni Loud Robredo. The elections are almost in and I'm afraid that elections should be held inside casinos instead . The argument below just really makes me wonder if getting a degree in political science is worth it if you're in the Philippines... I just find "Lucifer" here devilishly devious or plain stupid. Some might say he's not "stupid" because he got his degree from the University of the Philipines-Diliman. Yet, one must also think that Gerry Cacanindin may be from the same school BUT he's a ARROGANT pasaway "thought leader". Sarah Jane Elgago of Kayabangan Partylist is also from UP too. It's sad, really, that the UP is a school of excellence but the honor is lost. Just think that Jose Maria Sison was also once an iskolar ng bayan. The whole UP Mananita last 2020 which had at least hund...

Kilusang Mayo Uno Has Done NOTHING To Give Better Services, Generate Jobs, And Improve The Philippine Economy

May 1 is often associated with Labor Day. For Catholics worldwide, it's the feast day of St. Joseph the carpenter. For Filipino communists, it's associated with Kilusang Mayo Uno. It really makes me laugh that Kilusang Mayo Uno keeps shouting "NO TO RED TAGGING!" while they uphold the pictures of their heroes like Vladimir Lenin (not Leni Loud Robredo), Mao Zedong, Frederick Engels, Joseph Stalin, and Karl Marx. Kilusang Mayo Uno has been red-tagging themselves by upholding the photos of Communism's "greatest heroes" all the while they really hate China . These people could've welcomed Xi Jinping when he visited the Philippines during the late Noynoy Aquino's term and during this administration. These legal fronts of the CPP-NPA are organizations like Bayad Muna, Anak ng Bayad, Gagabriela, IBON Foundation, Anakpatis, Alliance of Complaining Teachers, Lazy Filipino Students, and Kayabangan Partylist. Some of its worst members are the like of Neri ...

Leila De Lima's Dilemma Shows Why Presidentialism Really Outright Sucks

Right now, I can't claim to have the last word on Leila De Lima (or Liela Dilemma) regarding her drug case. I could remember how Rigoberto Tiglao (a graduate of Ateneo De Manila) of The Manila Times wrote about t he Bilibid Hilton incident to which I'll share an excerpt for reading: Our national prison is just an hour away from her office in Manila, and has been known to be the justice department’s most problematic agency. There has always been intense lobbying for the post, which only on the surface appears unattractive. That it has become “Bilibid Hilton” for moneyed inmates to live in luxury and even for them to run drug rings can only mean either of two things, or maybe even both: l De Lima is totally inept in managing it, and ensuring our penal system is a pillar of our justice system; or l She is in cahoots with the web of corruption in the Bureau of Corrections, and she receives her share of rich and drug-lord inmates huge “rents” for them to live in Bilibid as if they ...

Could've Prime Minister Joseph Estrada Survived A Parliamentary Debate Against Opposition Leader Jose De Venecia?

Flickr Elections are around the corner and I was only 13 years old when they happened. In short, I had no voting power whatsoever. If my memory serves me right - I think Joseph "Erap" Estrada lost his cool against Jose De Venecia (whom Fidel V. Ramos wished succeeded him). If it was so then I think the Philippines should've gone parliamentary in 1987. Once more, the Marcos Years weren't a real parliamentary  as revealed by the late Ninoy Aquino. I remembered the amusement some people had when Erap and De Venecia had their debate. Some people got mad over the fact that Erap won the presidential elections. There was really no check and balance. The only "check and balance" that the presidential system has is term limits defined by a fixed number of terms and not by performance. However, this would be interesting to imagine what if the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines was a parliament . The timeline would go where Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino becomes the symbol...

Leni Loud Robredo's Presidential Campaign Proves Presidential Elections Are Almost No Different Than Celebrity Events

The Loud House Encyclopedia I don't exactly know how I feel (mixed emotions of laughter and facedesking) as Vice President Leni Loud Robredo (whose birthday was three days ago) is running for president. It's not a bit illegal for her to run. I feel like I'm watching Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat all over again - a movie that inadvertently warned us about the perils of presidentialism . I remember watching both Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat last 2008 and the first film during college. Now, it's even funnier how an episode of The Loud House even has the fictional Leni Loud run for mayor and even use PINK as her campaign color. The letters of Leni are written in YELLOW. I'm just laughing since the episode almost predicted the campaign of the real-life Leni Loud, Leni Loud Robredo. I'm not surprised Kakapinks are now bragging about Leni Loud's celebrity endorsement . I'm not even surprised that Catriona Magnayon Gray is now endorsing Leni Loud as her c...

What's The Use Of Pasaways Celebrating #EarthDay2022 When They Themselves DON'T CONTRIBUTE To Environmental Preservation?

I'm not saying that we should ignore the current instances of climate change. I fear that both Odette and Yolanda were the results of it. Though, we have presidential candidate Ka Loserdy De Guzman who's part of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice which I believe is among the many CPP-NPA legal fronts aside from Kayabangan Partylist, Alliance of Complaining Teachers, Bayad Muna, Anak ng Bayad, Gagabriela, Anakpatis, Katribu Partylist, and many more. Environmental degradation is a reality that we must face. However, I fear that we tend to bark at the wrong tree. Capitalism in itself is good if applied well. Capitalism is only bad when businessmen ignore ethics all for a profit. Building shopping malls isn't wrong. However, building shopping malls that don't respect environmental laws is wrong. Besides, the late Lee Kuan Yew even talked about greening Singapore. I gave a thought about the pasaways celebrating Earth Day. I'm not saying that they haven't h...

Why There's No Need To Fear Prime Minister Bobong Marcos In A REAL LEGITIMATE PARLIAMENTARY

I was thinking about all the panic that Bobong Marcos would one day be president. There are really stupid anti-constitutional reform idiots who are once again using the Marcos Narrative as an excuse not to go parliamentary. Do I need to keep stressing out the words of the late Ninoy Aquino where he mentioned in the Boston Speech that the Marcos Years' "parliament" were a fake ? Cesar Virata was a prime minister in name only. Besides, another dreadful truth about the Marcos Years was the RAMPANT ECONOMIC PROTECTIONISM . Seriously, why isn't that mentioned? If the "gains after EDSA" is the return to a dysfunctional sense of freedom then that's NOT anything beneficial at all. I'm not saying that EDSA was a bad thing. What's the use of overthrowing a tyrant when protectionism is still enforced to a certain extent?  I was thinking about one woman named Raissa Robles. I'm not here to dismiss any truth she said about the Marcos Years. The late Ferdi...
