Jose Rizal Was Against A Misguided Notion Of Happiness

The Philippine national hero once said, "Filipinos don't realize that victory is the child of struggle, that joy blossoms from suffering, and redemption is a product of sacrifice." While I couldn't imagine or fully say what his life was, I could imagine people who might have told him in Spanish, " Who are you? A hero? " or, "Well we can't do anything, can we?" to excuse or enjoy their blunder. If Jose Rizal were alive today, I think he might actually dare to slam David Guerrero  for his nonsense tagline, "It's More Fun in the Philippines" on his face. If he were alive today, he might also say, "Stop with that nonsense slogan. Why don't you make it a reality?" and maybe he would have written the book, "It's Not More Fun in the Philippines" instead of Noli Me Tangere. Many Filipinos have this problem that  they think they are a nation of happy people  when in reality that behind their smiles is a sa...

Will Foreign Investments Put Local Businesses Out Of Business And Leave Filipinos Impoverished?

I remembered when I wrote a basic economics guide against the Failipino view of economics , I'm now compelled to write more articles on foreign direct investment. I wrote a previous article on the great lunatic that's Heneral Lunatic  so I guess I might write against the idea that Foreign Direct Investment or FDI will cause a foreign invasion because for the NTH time that  it DOES NOT cause a foreign invasion . It's just a stupid excuse that idiots make and the opportunists take advantage of in their quest for power. This of course, I wonder if Heneral Lunatic really studies history as he claims he does or does he even know basic economics ? Now it's time to tackle on the question on whether or not foreign investment will destroy local businesses and leave Filipinos impoverished. I believe it's time that I wrote something similar to this as part of the aim for Constitutional Reform.  The idea that foreign direct investment will cause local businesses to be out of...

Will President Nobita Aquino And DOTC Secretary Emilio Pabaya Keep Their Promise?

I previously mentioned about how President Nobita should have not foolishly made that promise , now Christmas is over what about New Year? When I first heard of the promise, I could only say, "REALLY?!" Just because he's the president of the nation doesn't mean he can accomplish all he promised even if he had all the resources to do so. He's just human and in the process, he's really overestimated himself. Considering that the road of Baclaran to Bacoor has not been done and I can't say it'd be done in the next five days, will both President Nobita and DOTC Secretary Pabaya keep their promise that they'll allow themselves to be run over by a train? I doubt it considering that President Nobita hasn't achieved everything he promised during his campaign, we might as well consider the promise unfulfilled by January 2, 2016. What might be the most convenient (and predictable) way out is this... the blame game . It's already 2015 and the y...

Christmas And New Year: It's Definitely Not More Fun In the Philippines!

Knowing that Christmas is just around the corner, I felt like writing this entry to get their attention. There's always the feeling of excitement for Christmas and New Year but there's also that feeling of anxiety. In a country where impunity is the norm , Christmas and New Year are also occasions where many Filipinos tend to invoke their "right to impunity" in more than one level. In the midst of a nation where a lot of people just loves to break guidelines  then you should really expect more people to to say, "Come on, it's Christmas. Can't you let it slide?". The statement is also used whenever people want to supposedly reconcile with somebody on Christmas but mistreat the person for the rest of the year. Sure, it's time for gifts and celebration, it's time for Christmas sales, it's time for year end bonuses, time for office Christmas parties but there's also anxiety for many people. The anxiety can take place of the thought ...

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach's Victory As Miss Universe 2015 Might Be A Two-Edged Sword

Have you never noticed that when a Filipino makes it big, those annoying Pinoy Pridists are most likely to shout, "PINOY PRIDE!" or "FILIPINO PRIDE!" as loud as they can? I have nothing against Filipinos being happy for their countrymen winning but all that super annoying  credit-grabbing has to stop. While I do feel a certain degree of happiness for Pia Alonzo WURTZBACH's victory (I capitalized the letters of her family name to emphasize she's half-German), but the problem is not her victory (as if it's ever a problem at all) but it's all about people who are free-riding on her victory.  What may also piss off many Pinoy Pridists is her answer to the question on whether or not the United States should have a military presence in the Philippines. Her answer was simple as, "I think that the United States and the Philippines have always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by the Americans and we have their culture in...

The Stupidity Of Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's Plan To Replace Algebra, Calculus And Trigonometry With Business Math For Secondary Education

I have previously written an article related to doing Math wrong in the public schools , now it's time for me to at least raise this concern on Rodrigo Duterte. As much as I am in favor of actually shooting down big time crooks or going federal but his plan is just stupid. I would like to share why it blew off my mind hearing what he just said. The whole idea of replacing algebra, calculus and trigonometry with just business math is dumb at several levels. Here's an excerpt from the Philippine Star's article on Duterte's plan : “Yung Calculus alisin ko talaga yan. Dumaan kayo ng high school, ano ang natutunan niyo sa Calculus, Trigonometry? Yang Algebra palitan mo na yan ng Business Math (I would have Calculus taken out. What have you learned in Calculus and Trigonometry during high school? Let’s replace Algebra with Business Math),” Duterte said during a thanksgiving dinner at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. The dinner was hosted by two supporters of ...

The Bad Habit Of Using One's Pinoy Identity To Justify And/Or Enjoy One's Blunder

I remembered writing a couple of posts in the past about ways Filipinos can justify their habit of enjoying their blunder . One common excuse used to enjoy one's blunder is, " Eh di pumunta ka sa ibang bansa? " or "Why don't you go to another country?" and I still hear it. Another statement that I hear is, " Eh sino ka hero? " or "What are you? A hero?" to anybody who raises up issues in correcting the prevalent stupidities of the Philippines. All those are done in the name of that they think they are so smart  even when in reality they are really  VERY STUPID  especially with the prevailing culture of anti-intellectualism . Then I thought it might be necessary to write on what if I wrote a post on using one's Pinoy identity to justify one's blunder. There is nothing wrong with being a Pinoy (as if it can be helped that a person can be born as a Pinoy) but you certainly choose to become a Failipino . I remembered how many bad F...
