Urging Kris Aquino To Run For Office Is DISRESPECTFUL Towards The Late Noynoy Aquino And To The FILIPINO PEOPLE

One of the critics of the Anti-Terrorism Bill of 2020 is Atty. Mel Sta. Maria. Okay, I can understand if there were concerns that the bill can be misused and abused. Sta. Maria did a good job by actually citing the clause that would protect people from unjust usage of the Anti-Terrorism Bill. I, for one, am for having the Anti-Terrorism Bill BUT as said - there are gray areas that need to be corrected. Both Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach showed concerns that the bill could be misused and abused. So no, they were NOT in favor of scrapping it out but only to revise it. I'm not going to disagree with Sta. Maria here. However, this recent tweet of his is just too idiotic to urge Kris to run for senator SHORTLY after her older brother Noynoy just died of NATURAL causes. Thankfully, Noynoy's death was natural and that he didn't get martyred. Otherwise, it could've been used to trigger another EDSA Revolution.

I think that Sta. Maria's latest tweet is just stupid. Urging Kris to run after her brother just passed away? Isn't that really disrespectful? I think the problem was also that urging Noynoy to run after his mother, Cory Cojuangco-Aquino, died was also very disrespectful. But in Noynoy's case, he was already a legislator with some laws passed. Noynoy had some experience and in due fairness - he did some things good. Apparently, Get Real Philippines (and myself included) failed to see it. Sure, I'm not going to ignore the failures but it doesn't mean we can't highlight any success in it. Sure, the Noynoying Years weren't the golden years but it doesn't mean that Noynoy didn't do anything well. Actually, even President Rodrigo R. Duterte did praise Noynoy's economic performance. I blame the system more than Noynoy as to why the Noynoying Years weren't the golden years. However, a parliamentary form of government would've given Noynoy the edge to make it a real golden regime.

Those who want Kris to run must also question what she has done for the Filipino people. One can always appeal to her deceased parents to booster her up. However, she is neither her father nor mother. Kris will never be Cory or never be Ninoy. Noynoy will never be Ninoy. A son will never be his father. A daughter will never be her mother. One may go ahead and question Ninoy's status as a hero BUT his speech in Boston did reveal a lot of anomalies during the Marcos Regime. One of Ninoy's speeches revealed that the Marcos Years were NOT a real parliamentary. I could say Ninoy RISKED HIS NECK to reveal the anomalies of the Marcos Years even if he was probably just like Starscream while Marcos was Megatron - both characters from The Transformers. Ninoy was also my inspiration to even write this blog aside from Jose Rizal. What about Kris? Has she done anything like Ninoy? Did she, like her father, make a communist rebel surrender? Ninoy played a role in the surrender of Luis Taruc. Kris never made any NPA leader surrender. Besides, the rise of Kris TV served as a massive distraction and gossip.

Not to mention, hasn't it been some time since Kris' relevance dried up already? I guess more and more Filipinos found other outlets. Kris' status in the limelight isn't ever and no celebrity is meant to stay in the spotlight. If they live longer then they will grow old. The stage is meant to be passed down to younger people. Sooner or later, an old person will say to the young person, "It's your turn now!" The older people are meant to pass down their knowledge to the younger generation. They must be ready to make way. Kris isn't getting any younger either. With Kris no longer on the spotlight - can she still get votes even in a popularity-driven system?
