Sorry PEP.ph, Coconuts Martin's "Ang Probinsyano" Doesn't Hold A Candle To Song Joong Ki's "Vincenzo"

Last night was the conclusion of one of Netflix's Top Ten dramas, Vincenzo, a TV drama that Ang Probinsyano (referred to as Brother in Netflix with only 50 episodes uploaded). Vincenzo had a total of 20 episodes which managed to finish an entire season with the right amount of tension within a given timeframe. Vincenzo managed to create another reason as to why Ang Probinsyano's 1,300+ episodes is becoming a bad joke in contrast to Korean crime drama

Just watching the finale last night made me think "Why hasn't Ang Probinsyano really ended?" Sure, it could be a good idea to remake Ang Probinsyano into a TV series. However, ABiaS-CBN made it into the the most pointless teleserye still running around. It's already six years and the misadventures of Cardo Dalisay (Coconuts Martin) are still ongoing with no end in sight. Vincenzo knew how to balance the action, drama, and the plots of an anti-hero's quest for revenge against Babel Corporation to protect the public. The ending though seemed to suggest there might be a second season with the anti-hero lawyer in all. It's very much unlike how Kill It ended with the protagonist Kim So Hyun finally bit the dust with a lot of gunshots - the kind of ending Ang Probinsyano badly needs.

TBH, decided to write this article because Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph) a bad joke of an article in Tagalog saying that Vincenzo can't hold a candle to Ang Probinsyano. I really have to laugh at the stupidity that was written trying to make it look like that Ang Probinsyano is still as "relevant" as ever when it isn't. The article did praise Vincenzo but tried to put the pointless Ang Probinsyano as if it would be greater by writing this idiotic statement towards the end:

Pero hindi uubra si Vincenzo kay Cardo Dalisay, ang karakter ni Coco Martin sa FPJ's Ang Probinsyano na mag-aanim na taon nang napapanood sa telebisyon pero hindi mapatumba ng mga kalaban.

(But Vincenzo can't possibly be better than Cardo Dalisay, the character of Coco Martin of FPJ's Ang Probinsyano which is now six years since it was shown on television where he's never defeated by the enemies.)

Balewala ang mga pakikipaglaban ni Vincenzo sa kanyang mga kaaway kung ikukumpara sa 'sangkaterbang pagsubok na pinagdaanan at napagtagumpayan ni Cardo na itinuturing ding imortal.

(The battles of Vincenzo with his enemies don't compare to the extreme trials that Cardon Dalisay has passed through and triumped where he can be considered immortal.).

Tatlong buwan lamang na umere sa Netflix ang Vincenzo, pero matindi ang separation anxiety Filipino fans ni Song Joong-ki.

(Vincenzo aired for only three months in Netflix, however Filipinos have a strong separation anxiety.)

Inaasahang mas grabe ang pangungulilang mararamdaman ng mga tagasuporta ni Cardo kapag nagpaalam sa telebisyon ang Ang Probinsyano bago matapos ang 2021.

(It's expected that the separation anxiety for the supporters of Cardo will be greater when Ang Probinsyano will say goodbye on television before the end of 2021).

Hmmm... is Ang Probinsyano really ending now or not based on that statement? It was said to end in April 2021 but it was verified by ABiaS-CBN that it didn't. For the article to brag about Ang Probinsyano may want to answer if the show aired in South Korea or not. Did Ang Probinsyano become an international sensation? That's what the writer needs to answer.

Maybe, just maybe, the article is a desperate attempt to keep Ang Probinsyano afloat because elections are around the corner. Who knows that maybe Coconuts will be running for senator in either the Liberal Party bloc or the Nacionalista bloc (since Antonio Trillanes IV is a fan of his show). Though, there could be other reasons as to why this is happening. Though, there can also be other reasons too.

Granted, GMA-7 did feature and promote Vincenzo during its launch period. Apparently, tvN is willing to let GMA-7 bad-dub their hit show, Vincenzo, for the Filipino audience. It seems that ABiaS-CBN is bitter as to why GMA-7 beat them to it. Though, ABiaS-CBN did also feature Vincenzo too. Though, it seems tvN may have granted the license to air Vincenzo to GMA-7. It's possible that ABiaS-CBN had a connection in PEP.ph to write it down. After all, its owner Summit Media does have ties to Globe and ABiaS-CBN. Though ABiaS-CBN may want to air Kill It instead and, hate to admit it, have Shaina Magdayao voice Do Hyun Jin (Jin A Nana) though they might have to get rid of Roxanne from Ang Probinsyano first (or end Ang Probinsyano) right?
