It's Really A Bummer To Want A Genuine Opposition While Rejecting Charter Change To Parliamentary

As much as I really find Get Real Philippines' Benign0 to be clueless -- I still seldom read the site for inspiration like the same I do with Rigoberto "Bobi" Tiglao's site. One of the earlier articles written by the ever clueless Benign0 was titled "Bam Aquino’s call for a ‘Genuine Opposition’ highlights the lack of one in Philippine politics". Yes, Bum is RIGHT in a certain angle to say the following:

“In 2019, hindi lang ‘The Force’ kailangan, we need ‘The Resistance’ – a genuine opposition slate. Kailangan ng mga taong magsasama-sama, magtutulong-tulong para labanan ang polisiya ng administrasyon na nakakasakit sa tao. You will find me on that slate,” said Sen. Bam.

“You need a slate that’s independent from PDP-Laban, that’s willing to oppose, willing to stand up even if it’s unpopular, and even when it’s dangerous. Kailangan natin ng oposisyon para sa ating demokrasya,” the senator added.

Yup, that's right and Bum is partly right. There has to be a genuine opposition independent from the majority seat or the Government. However, the problem is not that the Liberal Party of the Philippines belongs to the current "opposition" but that they actually just oppose and oppose everything PDP-Laban does. Bum's desire for a genuine opposition is not wrong per se. The problem is that he (along with the Yellowtards) are still enemies of the BADLY NEEDED charter change to parliamentary. The current opposition really needs to support constitutional reform as soon as possible. Instead, they're too focused on their theatrics such as the #RIPDemocracy hashtag in regards to badly needed constitutional reform.

Why is the parliamentary form of government the genuine opposition? It's because politics is based on parties and not personalities. The current line-up of Rodrigo R. Duterte and Leni Loud Robredo is really not working at all. It would be really stupid if we want Leni Loud as president and Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. as vice president this 2022. People will vote by parties rather than by persons. #OtsoDiretso is automatically voted directly with the Liberal Party when the Filipino people select their respective party. People vote by parties (operation teamwork) rather than by personalities (operation mishmash) which has resulted in several uneasy tandems such as Joseph Estrada with Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" C. Aquino and Jejemon Binay. It's also because the Government will have a Shadow Government to face. There is a shadow minister that competes with the actual minister. The Opposition has the real job of scrutinizing the Government and giving alternatives in the process.

What's even better is that the parliamentary government gives one massive presscon every week. It's not presscon per party or politician. Instead, it's a massive presscon where the Government and the Opposition must answer each other. Let's say that the current ruling party is PDP-Laban and the Liberal Party becomes the Opposition or Shadow Government. Let's imagine that Duterte is the Prime Minister and Noynoy is the leader of the Opposition. Each side will have one huge simultaneous presscon that will make each side do what they have to do. The government will lay out its proposed policies then the opposition will lay out its alternatives.

Maybe the greatest fear of the Liberal Party or the Yellowtards is that they could get removed immediately. You could imagine what if the Philippines were parliamentary and Joseph "Erap" Estrada was the prime minister. Erap would've been removed by a vote of no confidence without having to wait for a jueteng scandal to happen. Erap would've been easily yanked out at the weekly question hour if he was a prime minister. The same could've also happened if Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo can't give account for the ZTE Broadband Deal and the alleged fertilizer scam. Noynoy himself would've probably lost the confidence of the legislators if he kept answering "Hindi ko alam!" at the weekly question hour.

This really shows the Liberal Party's INCREDIBLY MASSIVE failure of the mind. It's because they're still seeking better results when the system they hold to is defective. Now, their beloved 1987 Constitution is biting them back. Hopefully, they will support charter change. It doesn't mean you have to be a DDS to support charter change. You can still be anti-Duterte and support the badly needed charter change.
