The very idea that Antonio Trillanes IV is the "New Ninoy" is just funny. I've listened to some of the late Ninoy's speeches and at least said guy made some sense which is contrary to Trillanes' rambles. Now, his supporters and other anti-Duterte members of #TindigPilipinas may consider him making their new cover guy. The Marcos Years had Ninoy. The Duterte Years had Trillanes. The difference is that the Marcos Years were indeed a real dictatorship while the Duterte Years aren't. The late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. declared martial law out of the blue while President Duterte declared martial law because of an urgent need. Martial law is still constitutional in the 1987 Constitution.
I thought of the idea that suggesting Trillanes will get "martyred" is something outrageous. Thinking that should something terrible ever happen to him would be automatically President Duterte's fault is a faulty assumption. Just imagine that one day that Trillanes goes home from abroad that he gets shot from a distance by a random killer. It may be a betrayed agent of his or somebody who's had enough of him. His corpse would like down at the tarmac of any airport (maybe at the Clark Airport or Subic Airport or even any airport in Davao) causing widespread panic.
What's the next step after the possible "martyrdom"? #TindigPilipinas will probably decide it's time to launch another good old EDSA Revolution. Chances are that Arlene Trillanes will become the newest grieving widow because Leni Loud Robredo didn't work as they have intended. Arlene may even consider running for president or becoming the new Cory Aquino. They will be chanting "Arlene! Arlene!" in place of "Cory! Cory!". Granted, Mrs. Trillanes herself may dare President Duterte to declare a snap election like Marcos did during his dictatorial regime. Then cheating will end up happening. If they lose then they will blame President Duterte even if very few voters voted for Arlene.
What if a failed snap election wouldn't get Mrs. Trillanes the office as the new president? Why not try another EDSA Revolution in the memory of Trillanes should he ever get "martyred"? I don't think that even half of EDSA will be filled. It's because of the spirit of EDSA is no longer relevant. The Yellows could no longer even fill their commemorations with many people like they used to. They can't get EDSA to be filled up like it was last February 25, 1986. People hate their guts now. Chances are if they ever decide to install a revolutionary government presumably with Arlene as the new president. However, with so little support their EDSA will just end up in a miserable failure. Hence, there's no reason to rename any airport after Trillanes for that reason too.
