Is Inquirer Suggesting That Foreign Investors Are Foreign Invaders?

Here's a screenshot of the Philippine Daily Inquirer's latest headlines. They went all the way with "Heil Digong" to this one. They wrote in their headlines, "Chinese Investors Target 3 PH Islands" and further write that it raises national concerns. This is really stupid because they are almost telling their readers that foreign investors are foreign invaders. You don't have to get a degree in economics or any commerce-related courses in order to understand that foreign investors aren't foreign invaders. Just study the history of first world countries and you'll realize that they progressed by accepting foreign investors as part of their local economy. The misleading headlines should have said, "Chinese investors doing business in Three Philippine Islands" and not what it says.

Inquirer can go ahead and claim to have balanced news (just like ABiaS-CBN claims that they're not siding with anyone but actions speak louder than words) but the results have proven otherwise. I don't care if they don't like President Rodrigo R. Duterte but if they're going to be lopsided then they have no right to criticize the also lopsided Mocha Uson. Actions speak louder than words. In business, you can advertise yourself to be the best while the results say otherwise. It's just like there's nothing wrong with saying, "It's more fun in the Philippines!" if the country is indeed in good peace and order. However, the country's airports (especially the Ninoy Aquino International Airport) together with peace and order in Metro Manila are anything but fun for just anyone.

May I remind you that Chinese investors aren't automatically Chinese invaders! The Philippines' ongoing conflict is with the Chinese government but not the Chinese people. It's not Huawei or Lenovo (or Chinese people in general for that matter) that's causing trouble -- it's the Chinese government! Also, please don't fall for the hoax that Chinese companies are automatically spying on other countries. I want to believe that these Chinese investors are seeking more democratic areas to do business in. China isn't the best place to do business especially if you're someone who values democratic principles. Chinas totalitarianism makes life really hard even for its own people. The Philippines itself has its potential which can be met by completely removing the stupid 60/40 provision. The Philippines may not be militarily superior to China but it can defeat it by removing unnecessary hurdles. If more businesses move from China to the Philippines then the latter can get even without having to go to a war it's sure to lose militarily.

SHAME ON YOU INQUIRER!

  1. China isn't Communist though the ruling party calls itself Communist.Party names usually reflect the historical intentions of their founders but not their actual platforms. Or would you consider the Liberal Party in the Philippines as truly Liberal?
