While CRappler does tell some degree of truth but it's so muddled in half-truths that you can't tell their fake news from the real one. Said news organization does a very good job that some people are so clueless not to spot the fake news and even believe it to be a "reliable" organization. Maria Ressa getting two awards in a year namely the Golden Pen of Freedom 2018 award and the Gwen Iffill Freedom Award. Congratulations to her because she deserves her award from said organizations who think like her. But the truth is that no amount of awards showered to Ressa -- not even a cabinet full of plaques from the clueless Western media (or the so-called "experts") would be able to build up her already severely broken credibility in the Philippines. Not even her past achievements such as her masteral degree in the University of the Philippines helped her either!
Do you remember when Agnes Callamard together with three "experts of the world" defended CRappler? That was some foreign help that Ressa had there. What was interesting was that Very Evil Files of Ellen Turdessilas tried to refute that Callamard said that shabu won't harm the brain. True, the statement came from Dr. Carl Hart but you can see that she still endorses said statement. She supports said statement even if she didn't say it directly either! She had U.N. rapporteur ahem shabuteur Callamard and Hart to help her but where did it go?
I wonder if she's ever noticed that if no amount of Filipino activists protesting at foreign embassies could get guilty overseas Filipinos out of death row. What makes her and her kind think that foreign intervention (such as those done by Callamard, Hart and other Western meddlers) will get her out of her pickle? Overseas Filipinos who broke the law in their own countries get what they deserve and these countries don't bend to Filipino laws. What makes her think that the Philippine government should bend to those foreigners who are trying to act like they own the Philippines in the first place? The Philippines is a sovereign country. It has every right to protest if any country should try and steal their territory. It had every right to ask the Chinese government to stop harassing its sovereignty. The same goes for foreigners who try to meddle in the affairs in the Philippines without knowing the real situation.
Besides, the only time that she can actually get real help is if these foreign meddlers actually send an army against the Malacanang. The whole affair of Hart and Callamard could have helped her if they provided her tanks and an army to help overthrow the current government. But even if she could get a foreign army to help her -- it doesn't change the fact that many Filipinos who once blindly followed her have already turned against her!
