It's More Than Time To Probe CHR For Possible Links To Dangerous Drug Trade

Today is the "celebration" of the Three "Martyrs" in China where three Filipino drug mules were put to death last March 30, 2011. As part of the "celebration" -- I want to bring up the fact that CHR's current administration can be seen missing the point over Spox Harry Roque's statement concerning a possible link between drug syndicates and human rights activist groups. I just read from the PNoypine Daily Inquirer that the Commission on Human Rights has just raised a reaction it's a pointless accusation -- even when Spox Roque has stated a SPECULATION. It has me thinking that Gascon is indeed a point misser.

But what if Gascon is more than a point misser? I may not be a criminologist or lawyer but it doesn't mean I don't have the right to speculate. Do you remember the time when Gascon actually invited Agnes Callamard to the Philippines? I still can't forget about the article that Rigoberto Tiglao wrote in the Manila Times where he revealed that CHR not only invited Callamard but also paid for her air fare and five star hotel accommodation.

Do you remember when Callamard and Professor Carl Hart said that there's no evidence that shabu leads to violence or causes brain damage? That incident alone should at least make certain people speculate of the possibility that Gascon is indeed linked to drug syndicates. There may not be evidence right now but some of his actions suggest that he could be. I mean, why is he usually seen protesting against drug lords getting killed over the rights of people who were victimized by drug lords? He can't use the lame excuse that, "CHR only goes after state agents." because CHR is an agency for HUMAN RIGHTS.

Gascon has also seriously missed the point as well. Human rights group refers to ACTIVIST groups and not people working for CHR. But his being defensive (aside from being a point misser) should get anyone concerned. This really calls for some serious investigation by the Department of Justice and the Public Attorney's Office. At the same time, maybe both Spox Roque and Atty. Persida Rueda V. Acosta should authorize an investigation at the CHR agency especially against Gascon himself.

If found guilty, Gascon himself along with those in cahoots with him will not just be fired from their jobs. They should also be put to justice for all the crimes they've committed against the Filipino people.
