It should be another reason why Cheato Gascon should be really thrown out of the Commission on HUMAN Rights permanently because of his love for selective justice. Here's what the Filipino Insights have to say about CHR:
First of all, CHR and CBCP are noisy in the killing incidents in the country that involves the illegal drugs but in this instance that the suspect was involved on illegal drugs, the CHR and CBCP are silent on the matter, said Reynaldo.
However, if the CHR and CBCP are fighting for rights of helpless individuals, this is the opportunity to crack and condemn the truck driver and positive in drugs suspect who brutally killed and burnt the defenseless bank employee.
This is really disgusting considering that both groups consider themselves to be champions of human rights. Okay, there is such a thing as DUE PROCESS and no suspect should be killed immediately. The drug related killings are most likely brought by big time drug syndicates who wants to hide their dirt. They're killing small time drug peddlers who may be on the way to surrender to the police to testify against their bosses. These drug syndicates may have also paid their long time allied policemen to do the killings so the current administration will be blamed.
So here's another blow to Gascon's face. Abusive policemen and soldiers are a no-no but don't tell me that anybody who is a victim of crime isn't a human rights violation victim. The human rights of Mabel and her family were violated so shouldn't CHR also investigate it? It doesn't have to be a policeman or a soldier to do the crime before CHR should do its move. No, CHR should investigate ALL human rights violations regardless of whoever does it. They even admit they're not a law enforcement agency. If that's the case, they should keep records of those incidents so the police and military can dismiss abusive policemen and soldiers. They should also investigate all victims of crime so the judiciary system can make sure that the right people get punished.
Unfortunately, Gascon hasn't even done any real investigation with several crimes done by policemen and military either. He only does his move whenever it suits him. The same goes for Leila Dilemma and Etta Rosales. I wonder do they even realize that their own action could even harm their loved ones in the process? Let's see how would Gascon want it if his daughter got murdered by common crooks and nobody will do a thing about it. After all, isn't his mindset saying that unless it's policemen or soldiers who do their abuses the CHR should remain silent?
Right now, CHR needs a new and competent chairperson. The problem isn't CHR but it's people like him who are running it.
