When Will Anti-Parliamentary Kakampinks See That A Parliamentary System Would've Benefited Them Too?
Get Real Philippines' clueless webmaster Benign0 wrote an article on the first anniversary of the Second Marcos Admin. There are times I just can't take Benign0 seriously because he believes that Filipino culture is static and can never change. Benign0's solution will take SEVERAL GENERATIONS before it'd work. The guy has been feeding trolls like Darth Moron the Wuss and Jason VOORHEES. You have anti-parliamentary Kakampinks who are saying, "It's the people, not the system!"
I read through Benign0's short and I'm sharing this part of the post:
Again, we only need to face simple facts about why the old “Opposition” find themselves in the dumpster today. They failed to unify, failed to put up a competent leader, failed to come up with a campaign pitch based on an accurate reading of public sentiment, and refused, as the campaign progressed, to learn from insights described by data published by reputable polling firms. They were utterly buried in May 2022 because of their arrogance, lack of capacity for inward reflection, and tone deafness to the national pulse.
Today, the Opposition stew in their own juices of failure while the “victors” gloat Talo si Leni (Leni lost!). That’s because that is what really happened. Leni Robredo is not a victim of “sinister forces”. She lost because she did not play well. Rather than stew, the Opposition need to focus on levelling up. Play a better game. Anticipate the feints, the bluffs, and learn to think three steps ahead. It’s simple, really. Whether one likes it or not, democracy is a game all Filipinos signed up to. You can’t dismiss a game you chose to play just because you lost.
This would probably highlight another problem of Kakampinks. True, there are some Kakampinks who are open to constitutional reform like the late Carlos Celdran or economist Andrew J. Masigan. However, there seems to be a good amount of Kakampinks (and other idiots such as that Jason VOORHEES who's probably still fighting Freddy Kruger if he's not trolling at GRP) who still insist that the Empire of Marcos was a real parliamentary system. The Butasang Pambulsa NEVER had the same seating arrangement as the Westminster of Britain nor did Cesar Virata make any real leading power. Heck, the late Lee Kuan Yew called Virata a sitting duck and no actual leader.
The presidential system has always been winner takes all scenario. Some may say, "That's not how democracy works." Excuse me but isn't democracy a government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE? Instead, the parliamentary system would've provided both Uniteam and Kakampinks their own platform.
As mentioned, a real parliamentary system will put the Government and the Opposition at equal footing. Prime Minister Bobong Marcos and Opposition Leader Leni Loud Robredo will have their ENTIRE PARTY. Uniteam will have its set of ministers. The Liberal Party of the Philippines will have its own ministers. Every appointee that Bobong has will have an equivalent from Leni Loud's side of the fence. In short, Leni Lould wouldn't be going to Harvard or Japan right now. Instead, Leni Loud would be leading the Liberal Party as the OFFICIAL OPPOSITION.
The parliamentary system will have Bobong and Leni Loud face each other in a weekly question hour. The entire Liberal Party's job is to question the Government and hold it accountable. Also, the Shadow Ministers of the Liberal Party will be in charge of giving solutions. Now, if only Atty. Florin Hilbay will change his mind and say, "We need a parliamentary system to give us a better voice." It would be beneficial if both Uniteam and Kakampinks will have their voices. Each side may have something better to say than the other. Now, isn't that more democratic?
The Philippines really needs to go to a REAL parliamentary setting. History has proven that the Empire of Marcos was a fake parliament. Fools like Jason VOORHEES should become irrelevant. Hopefully, more Kakampinks will support the shift to a parliamentary system.
