The Current Philippine Opposition Needs To OFFER SOLUTIONS - Not Just Criticize The Current COVID-19 Relief Plan!

As said, both sides namely the government and the opposition have the right and duty to be heard. Recently, Senator Risa Hontiveros is now just opening her mouth again. Is it wrong for Hontiveros to be opening her mouth? It depends. So, she's already criticizing the current plan but the big problem is where are the alternatives? This shows the REAL problem with the current Philippine Opposition - it has become Operation Talk-Lang. It has never been about the opposition giving criticism but its FAILURE to give alternatives.

This is what I think should be done. Hontiveros herself should first READ THE GUIDELINES with the other opposition members. Second, the opposition members then need to examine it thoroughly then propose their solutions. Third, the opposition members need to give their alternatives with the intent of HELPING the government do better for the Filipino people. Their intent of criticism should be to maintain power and balance for the benefit of the FILIPINO and not just for their own benefit. It's not bad for Hontiveros or any opposition member to criticize - they need to give out their solutions to OVERCOME the crisis.

The big problem of the current opposition is that it's a popularity contest - not all about healthy competition! That's the problem with the popularity-based presidential system. Right now, the current opposition is more focused on derailing the government than giving it constructive criticism. Plus, the Philippines lacks any real weekly questioning. That's why both the government and opposition are not prepared at all. Some of President Duterte's mistakes could've been drastically reduced if there was weekly questioning. Members of #TindigPilipinas don't have any real reason to be focused on their credibility because the Philippines is a land stuck with popularity contests.

Besides, where was the opposition when the planning was done? I guess they didn't even want to cooperate with President Duterte either. Then again, the biggest problem of presidential systems is that the opposition usually voices only AFTER the project is done. Criticism needs to be done along the way and not just after the work is finished. That would only be possible if you've got a weekly question hour - something that's very MUCH ABSENT in the presidential system!
