It's more than time to consider the possibility that the virus can enter the Philippines. The virus itself is an airborne agent so it's better to be very careful. While there's no recently-confirmed case of the virus itself but Filipinos can't afford to be careless. The recent problems with immigration can be a problem. Is it me or is immigration in the Philippines still flimsy? I'm afraid that people who have gone to Wuhan (which may include Filipinos who possibly went there for work or vacation) may end up entering without proper quarantine. You may also have the possibility that some bioterrorists from China may bribe the customs to enter a vial full of the Coronavirus to enter the Philippines. Then we do have Northern Luzon where people still eat dog and cat meat as part of their culture. It's possible that the Philippines may also end up having its own Coronavirus without having to get it from China.
What risk factors can be named for not being ready in the case of the virus entering the country? It's not just the Pwede Na Yan habit. I've mentioned earlier that there are still areas in the Philippines that eat dog and cat meat in North Luzon. I've mentioned also earlier about the slum areas where the virus itself could multiply even worse than China. Wuhan Province in itself is very polluted. Can we even assume that Imperial Manila is well, clean? You can think of the still-untaken care and unclean areas in Manila such as Tondo slums and the Smoky Mountain areas. Squatters themselves may be a good carrier for the virus. Their ever dirty habits where they just dispose of their body waste anywhere can easily cause an outbreak should the virus be there.
It's very important to be vigilant and consider the possibility. Is the Philippines ready for an outbreak? That would be a good question. How can we get ready? Well, it's better to get ready because a virus outbreak is never a joke. Some may be laughing that it hit Wuhan but may hit the Philippines soon.
