The Cory Aquino Hype Is Still Irrelevant On Her Tenth Death Anniversary

Okay, before you think I'm endorsing Imelda R. Marcos -- I'm not! Imelda is just as guilty of necropolitics. The same goes for Cory Cojuangco-Aquino. Her husband Ninoy Aquino died and she became president. She died and her only son Noynoy Aquino became president. It was ten years since Cory died last 2009 -- which promoted Noynoy to run for president last 2010. But now, the whole Cory hype has died out this 2010. So what really happened?

The promise for progress has not been there. You can think that rather than end the long-state protectionism that the 1973 Constitution continued -- the 1987 Constitution was "democratically" installed chose not to. The result of the "promised progress" since 1987 hasn't even arrived. That's why former president Fidel V. Ramos wanted to install a new constitution. Unfortunately, the Yellows did succeed in using the fear of the unknown to stop Ramos' rather daring move. Ramos saw that the constitution was defective and desired to switch to federal-parliamentary government. That was the case because the digital age was still at its infancy.

Much would have happened since 2009 and 2019, right? Many people shared their condolences for Cory and many regarded her as a heroine. However, this slowly and surely fell apart. Just because the Marcos Years weren't the golden years -- it doesn't mean that the Cory years were the golden years either. The big problem is blaming the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. OVER AND OVER AGAIN for current woes that's not his fault. I don't want to deny Marcos Sr. himself took a lot of money. However, would the Philippines have had dismantled crony capitalism and had economic liberalization -- they wouldn't need to fuzz too much about, "Where is the Marcos wealth?" They could have focused on, "What do we do to recover the Philippine economy even if we can't recover the Marcos wealth?"

I guess more and more people found a way to really REVEAL the problems of the Cory years. Do you remember how many brownouts there were? Do you remember the slow disaster relief operations? Do you remember the poor peace and order? Well, you have to admit that setting Cory as president just because of her husband Ninoy's death was stupid. What did she even know about running the country? She knew NOTHING ABOUT IT. The constitution that they set up was defective. Instead, they only focused too much on the EDSA hype rather than focus on improving the country. The age of social media now even allowed all this dirt that was never known before the digital age even more exposed than ever.

Either way, the Cory Hype is long gone as much as Cory is long dead. Yellowtards either need to move away from it and focus on the present or perish!
