The "Wala Naman Tayong Magagawa Diyan" Attitude

Do you know one of the many reasons why the Philippines has had at least three decades or more of backward thinking? I could also blame it on the "wala naman tayong magagawa" or "we can't do anything". It's the idiotic attitude of pacifism which has caused nothing to be done.

This would be argued also with trying to reason that "diyan naman tayo nasanay" or "that's where we are used to." You can imagine how disgusting that attitude is appealing to idiotic arguments such as hundred years experience argument -- like people should just get used to it because it's been there for hundreds of years. Never mind that what's been used to for hundred of years will cost more than the cost for actually removing it! Also, did they even consider that before a hundred years that it always starts with no experience at all?

Some can say that it will cost a lot of money to change an incompetent system for a better one. It does take money to change the system but it can be beneficial in the long run. A good example is if your company has had many years of using typewriters but it's causing a huge slowdown in paperwork for obvious reasons. It may cost a lot to get desktops and printers to replace the typewriters but it will help save costs in the long run. Just think of how desktops and printers will actually help save paper and make reports faster to make because you can edit your work before you print it or how upgrading your systems may cost more (now) but it minimizes your burden later.

Let's go back and review with Filipino history, shall we? You can think of how the Philippines nearly had three centuries of experience under oppressive Spanish rule. One of the many reasons was because of their indifference to their Spanish colonizers. I even hear of it often that Filipinos got to used to fiestas as a way of distraction from the abuses of society. That kind of indifference of "wala naman tayong nagawa diyan" attitude didn't only affect the Philippines but almost every part of the world. You can think of how indifference has led many nations to their downfall. This indifference should be very sickening because it's how people get conquered -- when they refuse to do anything to defend themselves. Same can be said why the Philippines kept losing the territorial dispute over Spratlys with China -- it's all because of that kind of mentality.

In recent times, you can have their indifference towards issues that deprive Filipinos of the opportunity to work to get out of poverty. One good example is being indifferent about how the current government is ran with incompetence. They even have their typical excuse that it's better that way such as that it's better protectionism continues because Filipinos will never be competitive enough or let's just wait until Filipinos get better. The question is how can Filipinos get better if they are still continuously put to the safety dome called "wala naman tayong magagawa diyan"? The answer is they will just get better at being mediocre -- they will never get better in getting better!

It's that kind of attitude that keeps people backwards. I know it's not easy to shift to something you aren't used to but many times -- you just need to get out of your comfort zone to succeed. Should you just let bad work habits and money habits rule us because we're used to it or would you want to shift to a more productive line of thinking? For example -- you are too used to arriving late in your workplace so should you keep arriving late risking your job or will you start arriving on time and get better? This is what should be thought about because the "wala naman tayong magagawa diyan" attitude is not good!
