The Arrest Of "Bagong Bayani" Antonio Trillanes IV Is NOT An Attack On Democracy

The whole #RIPDemocracy sham is getting old, isn't it? Sure one can accuse Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. of REAL dictatorship and the martial law victims are real -- that is not the case with the Duterte Administration. The very arrest of Antonio F. Trillanes IV is not an attack on democracy. If anything, it was NOT President Rodrigo R. Duterte that ordered the arrest of Trillanes but the Makati Regional Trial Court.

This is the latest statement from Harry Roque making him a more suitable chairperson for the Commission on Human Rights. The decision was made by the Supreme Court and NOT by President Rodrigo R. Duterte to have Trillanes arrested. This one should send a message to Filipinos that the rebels of yesterday aren't necessarily the heroes of today. Now it's time to for the legal court proceedings to take over. President Duterte is respecting the decision of the JUDICIARY and how can you call that a dictator? A dictator gives all orders and he or she must be followed. President Duterte is respecting the judiciary.

Remember when it's said that Trillanes wanted to become the new Ninoy? Well, he's finally got it. Like Ninoy, both of them were involved in failed mutinies -- the Plaza Miranda Bombing, the Manila Peninsula Siege and the Oakwood Mutiny. How Noynoy Aquino could be so lenient to grant amnesty and not let Trillanes serve his full sentence is sending a wrong message that you can break the law and get away with it. No one should be allowed to have the mentality that I can be a rebel today and be a hero tomorrow. There was NOTHING heroic about Manila Peninsula Siege and Oakwood Mutiny either! Declaring Trillanes as a hero would be stupidity though I wouldn't mind him getting buried at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani. He can be put to rest near Angelo Reyes Jr. for all I care.

So what could be the next plan of #TindigPilipinas and the Liberal Party? There's the possibility of necropolitics. Some say that Ninoy's death was actually masterminded to launch a revolution. What if the same can be true for Trillanes? If there's any desperate move then why not do the same stunt on necropolitics? It would be very interesting to have Trillanes assassinated, blame President Duterte AND make Arlene Trillanes the newest grieving widow. But it may no longer work twice now due to the digital age. Instead of a revolution against President Duterte -- it may already end up as a revolution against the members of #TindigPilipinas instead.

As said, democracy is good all the while it needs proper decency. A good democracy should respect the rights of law abiding citizens first while giving appropriate punishments for offenders. Unfortunately for Trillanes -- there shouldn't be any room for people like him in a healthy democracy. He's a cancer to democracy because he may end up as despotic monarch should he sit as the Philippines' next president.
