Common, Irritating Ways That PNoys Tend To React To Constructive Criticism

I decided to give Get Real Philippines a visit on old posts and decided to "improvise" it with my own twist. It's all about common, irritating ways that Filipinos tend to react to criticism even from their countrymen. With the opposition already at a dead end, I thought I decided to write about common, irritating ways that PNoys (NOT Pinoys) tend to react to criticism. Yes, you know why Kris Aquino is the poster girl and why I got that picture from CRappler, right?

Here are some which I copied from the same GRP Post except I decided to paraphrase some of them based on my experience.

Why do you hate Filipinos so much you stinky foreigner? Get out and never return!

I think this is really one of the worst things to happen. It's very easy to accuse anyone as a racist just because one is offended. PNoys are no different and a lot of them tend to think that way. Whenever a foreigner criticizes it's so easy to backlash. I guess it's the whole reason why the stupid 60/40 policy was created in the first place. If foreign investors will be discouraged then there would be much less criticism to the mediocrity of society. This in turn will kill tourism and investments which are vital for the Philippine economy.

Stand by your fellow Filipino no matter what!

This is another problem about the whole padrino system. There's always the annoying KKK rule of kapatid (sibling), kamag-anak (relatives) and kaibigan (friend) which you must stand by them no matter what. You can think about how PNoys tend to have their behavior where they believe you must stand by them no matter what happens though this is very hypocritical. This means that you must stand by fellow Filipinos which who are guilty of crimes abroad... though this rule can easily be downplayed when there are Filipinos who don't want to do that stupid policy. I mean, why didn't they stand by those Filipinos who didn't want to stand by their stupidity?

Are you sure you're Filipino? If so go to another country traitor!

Isn't it always the typical excuse to question the loyalty of Filipinos for change whenever they go against the dysfunctions of their own society? They would call the person a "traitor" or worse tell the same person to migrate to another country. Does being Filipino really mean upholding such stupid practices as being one hour late and gate crashing? That's just using one's Filipino identity as a license to enjoy one's blunder which is another reason why the country has been backwards ever since.

Why don't you run for government office if you know so much you political analyst wannabe?

This is really irritating whenever the argument focuses on persons rather than the discussion. True, I'm no political analyst and I barely passed political science. But I don't need to be a political analyst to understand the stupidity of society that I observe at a daily basis. The question is if people way more qualified than I am would run would they even vote for them? Besides, it's easily observable how often it is that even when more qualified people speak up they will still not listen to him or her.

It's much worse in this country than the Philippines!

I grow tired of hearing it almost every day that "Come on, it's worse in X than in the Philippines." for this reason. That's because it's a reason that's been used to justify the mediocrity that's rising up like crazy in the Philippines. Do you know that a little problem can easily escalate unless it's fixed? Let's take the example of cracks. That crack could cause water to drip and it could get bigger and bigger. You should take care of that crack immediately before it worsens to save money. Should we wait until the Philippines becomes worse than Bangladesh or Somalia before we take action?

Other ethnic groups/countries also do it!

This is really one of the worse things to mention that other countries do it also. I would like to name some examples. It would be like using the disgusting and health hazardous Yulin Festival to justify eating dog and cat meat even if you know it's bad for your health. You could talk about Filipinos who may do a lot of trouble or even practice poor hygiene because some Mainland Chinese tourists are also doing it. This is really all about bandwagoning. This also raises the question that if they are so "nationalistic" then why appeal to foreigners' wrongdoings to justify theirs?

It's always been like that or it's fate!

This should be the one that tends to make me yell like crazy. It's like you always think it's fate that you're in your miserable condition. You just accept what "fate" is giving without trying to improve your conditions. There's always that stupidity of saying that we can't do anything about it when we could have done something about it. It's always getting satisfied at one's miserable condition rather than taking it as a challenge to overcome. Isn't it any wonder why the Philippines has been backwards no thanks to PNoy Pride?
