Basic Economics, History And Current Events Debunk The Notion Of Self-Industrialization

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what in the world is wrong with Heneral Lunatic's way of thinking. He says first world countries used protectionism to reach where they are now but the claim is bogus based on basic historical knowledge. If  people are to study history based on reliable sources and not faulty textbooks like those of the DepEd, they can find out that the first world countries didn't self-industrialize and it's just a stupid fantasy. A few examples in history can disprove Lunatic's self-industrialization theory. Some examples are China during Mao Zedong's time VS. China during Deng Xiaoping's time and North Korea vs. South Korea. These are a few examples of how self-industrialization is just an idealistic man's idea while economic liberalization works. A look at both history and current events will help analyze the stupidity behind Lunatic's proposal of self-industrialized countries.

Why Maoist China and Modern China differed greatly is because of how it carried its economic policies. Mao was a charismatic man with great knowledge in military strategy but he failed as an economist. His ideology of "equal society" had only turned China into a lazy society. By closing China's gates from the world and trying to hold two programs namely the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward, it caused China to have a great leap forward to failure. Deng Xiaoping himself may have some old school principles but he certainly was open to economic liberalism. Deng himself opened China to the world, he learned from Lee Kwanyew and he created Modern China. Maoist China's attempt to self-industrialize was a failure. Dengist China opened its gateway to foreign investors while providing reasonable restrictions and made China what it is today. Unfortunately, President Xi Jinping has deviated from Deng's view and it's time to really rise against China now it's become a major bully itself.

People need to take a look at North Korea and South Korea in terms of national performance. The Kim dynasty has only left North Korea a poor country until today. Its protectionist policies have left North Korea as an impoverished country. South Korea's use of economic liberalization with reasonable restrictions made it a progressive country. Guess where do all the Korean craze come from and who's "invading" the world now? Certainly it's not North Korea! Instead, I'm enjoying South Korean culture as part of my cultural immersion. Where are the successful Koreans? Most of them are from South Korea and not from North Korea. Did anybody go all the way from South Korea to North Korea to escape the "evils" of economic liberalization? I doubt it anything like that happened because life in South Korea is so much better than life in North Korea.

Why don't those Filipinos who advocate for protectionism go to these first world countries and show us that they're protectionists. If they really hate free trade then why do I hear some of them decide to have their vacation in the first world countries or listen to Korean pop music instead of North Korean revolutionary songs? If they should love protectionism then they should plan to have their vacation in North Korea instead of South Korea and they should stop listening to songs and using stuff that came from any country that benefited greatly from free trade.

  1. I personally don't care where some things came from. As long as I like it, find it useful, and, of course, is safe for consumption, I'll take it regardless of where it came from. In short, quality over nationality.
