Celebrities With NO Political Experience Won't Make Good Legislators

It doesn't take a political scientist or analyst to understand this one fact -- celebrities that have zero political experience will never make good legislators. The very thought of Tito Sotto as the new Senate President is just stupid considering that he proposed that idiotic cyber-libel law provision. Before that, we have Mocha Uson who plans to run for Senator and now Agot Isidro is already a new possible candidate for Senator. Really? Whether it's the idiotic Uson or Isidro -- I really don't want to cast a vote for either which!

There's a line between politics and show business. Both Uson and Isidro are celebrities. Do they even know the work of a legislator whether it's in the Congress or in the Senate? I doubt it yet you've got one Duterte supporter in Uson and a Liberal Party supporter in Isidro who should't even be qualified by law. Yet the lousy 1987 Constitution allows it anyway which doesn't help that presidential systems are based on popularity over credibility.

I can't imagine what kind of crazy laws would these two make. It was already bad enough that Sotto created a stupid libel clause that could lock anyone up for simply criticizing over the Internet -- as if it's even a cybercrime! Does Sotto even know what can be considered a cybercrime or not? Hacking someone's accounts and privacy through the Internet is a cybercrime. Criticizing someone isn't a cybercrime. Inciting people to rebel through the Internet is a cybercrime. Yet stupid lawmakers only want to pass laws to shield themselves from criticism or to protect the interest of their allies.

It's really a problem how the current Philippine democracy is a government of stupid people, by stupid people and for stupid people. It's a democracy that's either the tyranny of the majority or crowd mentality -- where the minority should never even be heard and that it's only a game of numbers. This is why entertainers who KNOW NOTHING about politics can run -- even when they have little to no knowledge. The Philippine presidential system wouldn't be so bad if there were laws against celebrities seeking national positions without any real experience. But this would be less of a problem in a parliamentary system where credibility outweighs popularity.

  1. Right! I am not even voting for Mocha Uson as well.

For me, I will call myself bobotante if I did that. I'd rather vote for a decent politician who is MORE of a public servant and less of a politician.

  2. Even if I know one personally, my vote will not be for Agot nor Mocha.
