The Sooner It's RIP CRappler The Better

I just read Get Real Philippines' latest post on CRappler where Maria Ressa is once again throwing her nonsense. Blaming Facebook for CRappler's inevitable demise?

Here's what the article has to say and I'm not posting everything word for word though so I can write more of my mind in it:

Maria Ressa, CEO of “social news site” Rappler has gone too far. Rather than own up to her failure to build a credible news media organisation that could compete in the free market of ideas, she, instead, takes it upon herself to appoint Facebook as “the new gatekeeper to information” and then proceed to accuse the social media giant for failing to “moderate its greed” and step up to that role.

MSNBC has become the latest Western media organisation to air Ressa’s monumental tantrum over how social media is conspiring against the “goodness” of Rappler and everything she stands for. It has backward-engineered a story from Ressa’s dubious premise and populated it with the usual cast of villains: armies of “bots” and paid “trolls” producing and propagating “fake news” commanded by an “authoritarian” leader. It is an all-too-familiar and overused plot of late — perhaps the only narrative in the dwindling ideological arsenal of the Philippine Opposition. But the same message delivered by a Western media outlet makes that message far more potent to Filipinos thanks to their renowned colonial mentality.

CRappler is not fake news? While it does have some real news but there's a lot of non-credible articles. They have been masters of sensationalism and double standard. Last October 11 I even learned from Get Real Philippines that CRappler is dangerously promoting the use of illegal drugs. That alone may have fed up with Filipinos who are seeing their children and loved ones succumb to the dangerous world of illegal drugs.

Instead of trying to be credible they continue to live in their safe space. Yup, you may want to sing the "Safe Space" song from the rather crude South Park TV series to CRappler. They still want to convince the world of what's in their safe space than to stay relevant. By refusing to be credible they have eaten up their own demise as social news site. Where's the real evidence that President Duterte hired an army of paid trolls? In reality, the Yellowtards have been trying to keep relevant through their troll army. All that is eating CRappler up and soon enough it will meet its demise.

Also, if there may be someone who we can thank for CRappler's demise it's that of Sundalong Kanin. Remember when Antonio Trillanes called for social media responsibility? By doing so, the "hero" inadvertently led to CRappler's inevitable demise.

RIP CRappler you'll never be missed! Filipinos have had enough of you. You and your kind might as well move to Spratlys and start a new nation there.
