4Ps Program Is Like Waiting For A Shower Of Gold Coins

I remembered the time I used to watch that crap dub of Bioman way before I started watching Bioman subbed by Grown Ups In Spandex. I ended up remembering one particular episode namely the fifth episode where golden coins made one city of Japan into a vice city. People were getting lazy and nobody wanted to work. Only when the Biomen ended New Empire Gear's gold coin sham did people go back to work and earn money the right way. The same can be true for the 4Ps program which means Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. In English it means Bridging Program for the Filipino Family. Here's what the Official Gazette has to say about 4Ps: The 4Ps has dual objectives as the flagship poverty alleviation program of the Aquino administration: 1. social assistance, giving monetary support to extremely poor families to respond to their immediate eeds; and 2. social development, breaking the intergenerational poverty cycle by investing in the health and education of poor children throu...

So Where Was ICC During The Marawi Siege?

President Duterte's decision to pull out of the International Criminal Court is not an act of cowardice but prudence. This is why I want to stress it out that the Philippines (and other countries) are better off without ICC . It's time to consider not only the inefficiency of the ICC (with a $ 1 Billion budget for twelve years with only TWO Congolese warlords convicted) but also what are they doing the whole day. This brings me back to the Maute crisis which may be far from over. It's crazy how the ICC wants to investigate President Duterte or how some people sign the stupid ICC petition to investigate him for alleged crimes. But where's the petition to get ICC to investigate one serious matter -- the HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS committed by Maute as they are part of the international terrorist organization known as ISIS. ISIS is an international organization so where's ICC in all of this? Doesn't ICC mean International CRIMINAL Court? Instead, it's just ...

Why Government Structures Or Political Frameworks Also Matter

I remembered writing some time ago a rather simple post on the fallacy of using " But we've already got 100 years or more experience in one and zero in another " to resist constitutional correction. I may not be a political analyst but some research on different political structures can help anyone without a political science degree understand why they matter. Some people continue to insist that all the Philippines (or any country) for that matter is just to change the leaders but not the system. They also insist that government structures or framework are merely wrappers and it's the content that matters. Here's the problem with the argument and you don't need to get a four your degree in political science to understand it. If the wrapper isn't important then would you put your food in a dirty wrapper? If you have oily, greasy food like lechon baboy then wouldn't wrapping it in kitchen aluminum foil before putting it in plastic be the practical...

Will The ICC Investigate Crimes Against The Filipino People Done By President Roxas And Vice President Trillanes?

I keep thinking about Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and his comrade at arms Congressman Gary Alejano are too busy filing bogus cases at the International Criminal Court. I've heard of how inefficient the organization is especially with this statement from the  Forbes Magazine : News stories recently reported that the International Criminal Court convicted a Congolese warlord of being an accessory to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Rarely were readers told that this is only the second conviction obtained in the Court—both of Congolese warlords—after 12 years of the Court’s operation and over $1 billion in expenditures. Rarer still was the insight that even this conviction, on a 2-1 vote, was long in coming and disappointing in outcome since the criminal was acquitted of the most serious charges, and was only convicted at all because of a mid-course correction to charge him with being merely an accessory to the crimes. The obvious question few seem to be asking is whether t...

Stop Using "We've Got Hundreds Of Years Of Experience" In The Old System As An Excuse To Resist Constitutional Correction

While accepting change without question or thinking that change always means progress is bad business practice and not to mention a lack of critical thinking -- then again so is resisting change because you still need change to make improvements. Whether you like it or not -- you need some stuff that can be used for good or bad. You need a kitchen knife to help you prepare food, you need heat to help you cook food, you need hammers to do carpentry work, you need clean drinking water to survive, you need tap water to do some washing work, you need insecticides to fight off mosquitos -- all the while these stuff can also be misused and abused. The same goes for change -- it's something that can be misused and abused all the while you still need it to survive and progress at the same time. Sometimes, some things should stay as is while some things should change.  It's a huge problem right now that you have people who refuse to change the super defective 1987 Constitution . T...

WTF: Migraine International Wants To Junk Labor Export Policy While Rejecting Foreign Direct Investments?

Well I just can't stop but bombard harsh criticisms and rain on the parade of Filipino activist groups (and Filipinos who've had enough of them should do so) on their celebration of "St." Flor Contemplacion Day. I remembered the 20th anniversary of her death  three years ago where the people at Migraine International still continue to portray her as a martyr instead of a criminal. This time, I would actually want to thrash their extreme stupidity by raising the question, "How does Migraine International expect to end labor export policy if they're so against Foreign Direct Investment?" Using the  basic knowledge of economics (and you don't need a Ph. D in economics to understand this simple post) can show how stupid the members of Migraine International really are. They want the government to create jobs at home but is it possible given the current conditions? One should take a look at the facts and figures or at least use one's basic econom...

Can Senator Antonio Trillanes IV Be Charged With Sedition?

I just had a thought about the rumor that Antonio Trillanes IV supposedly said that he's willing to become the next Ninoy Aquino . But whether that's true or not is no longer relevant as like Ninoy -- you can see the whole issue is that he's actually following in a similar path of foolishness. The problem is he's fighting against an imaginary dictatorship . The scenario between President Duterte's martial law in Mindanao is not the same as Ferdinand E. Marcos' nationwide martial law. One was declaring martial law because the police could no longer handle the job while the other was a misuse and abuse of a military tool meant to suppress disorder. The other difference is that Ninoy had lots of people attending his privilege speech but many walkouts on Trillanes' part. Here's what CNN Philippines has to say and this will leave people laughing with some Tagalog to English translations for non-Tagalog readers: This was the decision made Thursday based ...
