As September 21 approaches and it turned out to be that Jim Paredes' late mother Esther was actually part of the "Light a Fire Movement" as mentioned by Get Real Philippines. I thought Paredes was just your epal guy until I read about the horrors of the movement. Just reading it makes me cringe. Here's the part of the GRP article that somewhat makes me cringe:
Indeed, in light of these acts of terrorism, the outrage expressed by today’s Martial Law Crybabies over the arrest and detention of dissidents by Marcos’s government is quite baffling. Surely there is ample reason for any government to mount an aggressive operation to round up troublemakers when bombs explode randomly all over the capital city — specially one meant to terrorise the president himself. As a nation under martial law, Philippine government agents will have naturally acted and executed their orders within the framework of the extraordinary powers afforded them by that state.
Just because the late Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was in the building is no excuse to do what they did. This is what we have to consider in arresting a criminal. Let's just say that a big time drug dealer is in the building taking a coffee break. That wouldn't justify the cops launching grenades and the like harming shoppers in the process would it? It's just like if and if ever the late Ninoy was ever thug that wouldn't justify shooting him the airport. Just think how innocent people could have been hurt in the attempts to get rid of both Marcos Sr. and Ninoy. Shooting Ninoy could have also shot an innocent bystander who happened to be near him. Trying to kill Marcos Sr. all because he was inside the building by trying to burn it down would hurt people who aren't involved.
Okay, granted I still tend to think that Marcos Sr. was no hero (and hence I have no qualms about him getting buried in the already desecrated Libingan Ng Mga Bayani because it also buried other scumbags before him) but what's the use of complaining about martial law abuses? Isn't the whole Light a Fire Movement what one should call as trying to right a wrong with a wrong? Just because the late Marcos Sr. was a dictator doesn't mean that the Light a Fire Movement shouldn't be suppressed. It's just like just because China is a bully state doesn't justify Filipino drug mules going there with supplies of drugs for illegal Chinese hiding in the Philippines. Should I mention just because Marcos Sr. was a villain (if ever) doesn't make Ninoy a hero? For all you know neither side was a hero to the Philippines and it was just another Aliens vs. Predator war.
The question right now that maybe, just maybe anybody who grew up in the Marcos years would be this, "Will Jim Paredes inevitably attempt to relaunch the Light a Fire Movement?" Better yet, I'd like to ask those martial law crybabies if they would ever join Paredes should he relaunch the Light-A-Fire movement this September 21, 2017. My only assumption might be that Paredes may attempt to do so and martial law crybabies would probably join in his nonsense. He's probably still planning it now since he's already expressed his utter hatred for President Duterte. He's already making unsubstantiated accusations that would charge him with not just libel but also sedition. It made me think what better way would it be better for him to launch another Light a Fire Movement than during September 21 which is the anniversary of Marcos Sr.'s declaration of martial law.
What I could imagine right now and what could probably happen would probably be another attempt to discredit Marcos. I think they would probably want to destroy all the infrastructures built by the Marcos Sr. years to show disdain for the martial law years. Would he want to destroy the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the San Juanico Bridge for starters? He may even want to destroy every Yellow Cab branch all because they support President Duterte. Going by Paredes' logic then the Chinese should also destroy the Great Wall of China because it was built by a cruel Chinese tyrant. I guess they should also destroy Tiananmen Square because of Mao Zedong. But I wonder how many people will be willing to join Paredes if ever he will launch a Light-A-Fire Movement this September 21?
