It seems to be March is already victim card mentality month in the Philippines instead of victim card mentality awareness month. Why do I say that? I defense of my opinion, I would present some of my facts why I think March has become "Victim Card Mentality Month". I remembered watching "Magpakailanman" which had the story of the late Flor Contemplacion's daughter. Remember that the late Flor Contemplacion was given the death penalty for murder on March 17, 1995. On March 9, 2011 we would also witness the arrest of Flor's three sons the late Sandrex (who died in jail) and the twins Joel and Junjun were locked up for drug pushing. On March 30, 2011 then it happened that the three drug mules Sally Villanueva, Ramon Credo and Elizabeth Batain (no picture) were executed in China after they were found guilty of drug trafficking after a three year investigation period.
Before the execution of the three drug mules, this video has become a huge mainstream and the song sung was, "Kahit Konting Awa". For those who don't know about it, "Kahit Konting Awa" or "Just A Little Pity" was the theme song of the screwed up Flor Contemplacion movie. It was originally sung by Nora Aunor who played the titular role and an active member of Migraine International. Regardless of pleas, the Chinese government did the right thing in submitting the drug mules to the chopping board like they did even to their own citizens who were guilty of crimes deserving of death. What is ironic is that China a Communist country should actually be more serious about fighting crime while the Philippines claims to be pro-life but doesn't support the death penalty for those who violate the right to life thanks to the Commission on Human Rights! Fortunately no film about the three of them is underway, again I am expecting that it will happen.
As of late, another Filipino may get executed this month or next month namely Mary Jane Veloso and the news was on March 27, 2015. She was caught smuggling drugs worth 2.6 kilos of heroin into Indonesia, which she may have used the, "I didn't know I was bringing in drugs." excuse. While it would help to review her case but once she's guilty, she deserves the chopping board like every other violator to life. Again, it's March and yet another case which Migraine International may be ready to canonize her next. Also on March 9, 2015 (the anniversary of Flor's sons' arrest) we also have the report of Joven Esteva who got beheaded in Saudi for what could be murder. Again, the DFA just keeps pleading for the pardon of GUILTY CRIMINALS as a result of victim card mentality.
It's really time for every decent Pinoy or Filipino to rally against victim card mentality, make that stand one way or another... that is CONDEMN, NOT CONDONE the crimes of Filipinos abroad. As long as the Philippines keeps defending its criminal citizens abroad, things will never progress. Besides, it's no surprise that the Philippine government keeps doing so because it's being ran by mostly criminals like the battling oligarchs or you may say, being too lenient on crime. It bothers me why the prison cells are even giving special treatment to wealthy criminals and politicians while they allocate too little budget for what is necessary. The victim card mentality is not going to help the Philippines progress at all.
