Go Forward With Federal-Parliamentary-FDI Or Slide Backward With The 1987 Constitution?

The 2022 elections are around the corner. Apparently, both Dutertards and Noytards are still fighting over who's better between incumbent President Rodrigo R. Duterte and the late Noynoy Aquino. Alternatively, call it the DDS vs. Dilawan NONSENSE fights. The Dilawans love to claim that they're for the country but are they REALLY for the country or are they just fighting for Vice President Leni Loud Robredo to become the next president? The Dilawans are somehow more focused on them seizing power (again) than the Philippines. The DDS or Dutertards are somehow more concerned with a Duterte in power than constitutional reform. Worse, some DDS are even as anti-reform as the Dilawans while some of the Dilawans even forget that their fellow yellow, the late Carlos Celdran, was actually for constitutional reform. I'm amazed at how often alternatives are let with either PDP-Laban vs. Liberal Party or Bobong Marcos vs. Leni Loud.

First, we must define the system. Is it about who's in charge only? It's a problem that the Dutertards and Yellowtards tend to think that system change equals people change. It's almost like Duterte vs. Aquino all the way. The big issue is not just the person-in-charge but the VERY political system that runs the country. A system is defined as a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done. Just what kind of political system does the Philippines have anyway? What kind of political system did both Noynoy and Duterte have anyway? It's none other than the DEFECTIVE presidential system.

The late Jesse Robredo said that it's not enough to have good people but also have a system that forces them to be good. Later, Leni Loud stated it but does she understand it fully? I think the Dilawans think that system change is just for them to be back in power. One can say Noynoy had a good system. However, one can also consider the blunders during Noynoy's administration such as Joseph Pabaya's poor tenure as transportation secretary, the performance of the late Stinky Soliman as the DSWD Secretary, and the DAP/PDAF scandals to name a few. Now, Duterte himself also has his poor choice of appointees, focusing first on the drug war than economics, and Health Secretary Francisco Duque's lack of action during COVID-19 to name a few. I'm not going to side with either Dutertard or Noytard because they tend to glorify their leaders as if they made no mistakes.

I find it so amazing how some of the opposition pages like Change Scamming, Silent No More PH, Pignoy Ako Blog, and Bantay Nakaw now even dare to shame Duterte by comparing him to foreign world leaders. For example, they decide to point out Duterte's shortcomings by citing Lee Hsien Loong's better leadership. However, the bigger problem is that they want the Philippines to be like Singapore but they reject any means of constitutional reform. Are these pages expecting for a leader to magically pop out, make magic, and presto the Philippines becomes another Singapore? If so then they need to try to gain insights from the book From Third World to First by the late Lee Kuan Yew. It's because Singapore's success was NOT overnight nor just done in six years. If they want another Singapore then they must agree to amend the constitution by changing from presidential to parliamentary and forever getting rid of the negative list.

Unfortunately, it seems that that the troll pages just firing virtue signals to "look good". The problem is not that they criticize Duterte for his shortcomings. The problem with these pages is all they do is complain WITHOUT CITING ANY SOLUTIONS. Did they think whatever achievements Noynoy did during his term was magically done in six years? They want the Philippines to succeed (supposedly) but why are they NOT even willing to amend the constitution? If so, it's nothing more than insanity is trying the same thing all over again while expecting different results. Are they still expecting the Philippines to rise up via self-industrialization? Are they still expecting accountability when the presidential system hardly has it? They need to answer on how often has the government been DIRECTLY held accountable by the opposition in the presidential system.

It's really time for Filipinos to think about who they are not voting for. We're in the information age. We have access to real great constitutionalists. Why get limited with Christian Monsod and his wife Winnie or with Hilarious Davide? Did the framers of the 1987 Constitution even make us the best in the world? Can Davide TRULY back up his claims that his favorite constitution needs no revisions every now and then (which ironically is NOT even illegal) because the best in the world? Liberal use of divorce tears aparts families then again so does the OFW phenomenon. Just because amendments are done doesn't mean stuff like the SOGIE bill (which will ask us to ignore basic biology) are automatically included. Families are getting torn apart when parents have to work abroad because of a lack of job opportunities. Conquest? The idea is really so stupid because trade and conquest are NOT the same. If you're looking for better information then why not look for academic sites on the success of first world countries. We're no longer in the stone age and the constitution should be upgraded whenever necessary.
