Is Leni Loud Robredo Promising A Welfare State For Filipinos?

The candidacy of Vice President Leni Loud Robredo is on, right? Well, I'm thinking about her platforms and I'm really not that amused. I don't mind her running IF she's actually in for economic liberalization for a start. The campaign seems to be more focused on giving free food than teaching Filipinos how to make food. The Chinese proverb goes, "Give a man a fish and he will have a meal for a day. Teach a man how to finish and he will have a meal for a lifetime." A Filipino version of the proverb might be, "Give a person a bowl of lugaw and it's a day's meal. Teach a person how to make lugaw and it's a meal for a lifetime." All that lugaw gatherings really make you wonder what's in her head. Before that, she was even giving free food to people.

I remembered one time when I wrote about how 4Ps really makes it look like people are waiting for a shower of gold coins. 4Ps was supposedly a conditional cash transfer where money is given only IF the poor families agree to the conditions. However, it ended up becoming a mendicancy program when there's hardly any monitoring of the giving of the money. I could think about how an episode of Chodenshi Bioman had people line up for their shower of gold coins and that district in Japan became a Vice City. Mobile Cop Jiban also had an episode where Dr. Giba aimed to use a money-making Gibanoid to corrupt the people of Jiban. Unfortunately, these two fictional scenarios are played in real life when a welfare state arrives. Today, some of the American youth have bought socialism because they are lazy. Some Filipino youth join Filipino commie groups like Bayad Muna and Kayabangan Partylist because of LAZINESS.

It's not surprising that pekeng disente pasaway thought leaders are supportive of Leni Loud as president. Some of them are like Jover Laurio of Pignoy Ako Blog. Pasaway "thought leader" Gerry Cacanindin is making waves too. Gerry's statements are mostly illogical and he's obviously anti-reform. I'm amazed at how Gerry writes one statement after the other while not making any sense. Jover is also posting all her nonsense on the Pignoy Ako Blog Facebook page (the site is down for some reason). They're accompanied by other pasaway thought leaders. Jover has been proven to be an attack paid wildboar (and Kris Aquino is but one funder). Gerry also seems to be paid for by the same group. I believe Antonio F. Trillanes IV pays both of them to write what they write. Hmmm... now isn't that pretty much like a welfare state then? I guess they'll get highly paid as propaganda machinery if those they promote will win their places. So much for the troll farm accusations that they've thrown towards the others!

Too focused on the Marcos wealth recovery than economic reform...

I'm really not saying that the Marcoses aren't guilty. However, I really love to state OVER AND OVER AGAIN that waiting for the Marcos Wealth to be recovered is likened to Juan Tamad waiting for the guava to fall into his mouth. Those who lived in the martial law years can testify of the massive 3,000 shoes of Imelda Romualdez-Marcos or how Bobong Marcos lived like a royal prince. I even love to state that one must wonder how much of the Marcos Wealth is left. If Bobong kept having yacht parties and the like - do you think there's still enough money from the Marcos' bank account to save the Philippine economy? Chances are, right now, the Marcos Wealth may already be less than its initial value with the extravagant lifestyles of the Marcoses.

This is what I can suggest. Instead of still waiting (and it's been DECADES) to recover the Marcos Wealth - why not focus on economic reforms? For a start, the damage done by the Marcos Years could've been undone if the foreign investment act was much less restrictive. The damage of Carlos P. Garcia's "Filipino First Policy" was worsened by the Marcos Years' protectionist policies. Why hate Marcos if you love economic protectionism? Germany didn't just teach Adolf Hitler for the monster that he is - they also highlighted Hitler's economic protectionism as part of the policy. Hitler protected the local industries of Germany from foreign competition, shut down Jewish-owned businesses and grabbed their wealth, and then MISSPENT all that money that caused Germany to become poor even before his eventual suicide. Germany decided to stop focusing too much on Hitler's damage and chose to learn from it. Germany became a federal-parliamentary country with free markets allowing it to rise. The Berlin Wall was also constructed by COMMUNISTS which later fell down. It wouldn't matter if Hitler fell down and the Berlin Wall fell down if Germany didn't get rid of Hitler's poor economic policies.

If Leni Loud wants to make sense - she should focus on economic reforms. Sadly, she's having that slate which includes Teddy "Dancing Boy" Baguilat. Baguilat doesn't seem to see the big difference between economic restrictions between Vietnam and the Philippines. Vietnam, though a communist country, doesn't have that unreasonable 60-40 restriction. True, foreign ownership of land isn't allowed in Vietnam but that's not much of an issue. The issue is if you will really rent a space if your lessor will only let you own 40% of your net profits. Instead, it seems Leni Loud is too focused on creating a welfare state without even using her knowledge as an economics graduate or what?
