Leni Loud Robredo Should Promise To Turn The Philippines Into The Best ASEAN Country In 3-6 Months To Become President This 2022!

I was thinking about the future candidacy of Vice President Leni Loud Robredo. I was looking at two previous campaigns namely the late Noynoy Aquino's "Kung walang corrupt ay walang mahirap." and President Rodrigo R. Duterte's promise to fix the country in three to six months. Both presidents did some good but did they really get rid of crime and corruption? Such promises are too good to be true when you think about them. Yet, both Noynoy and Duterte got VOTED as president in their respective terms anyway. Now, I was thinking about the maybe Leni Loud herself still has a saving grace to win this election. However, this one requires her to make a promise that she can't keep. I'd like to suggest she promise that she'll be turning the Philippines into the best ASEAN country in just three to six months!

I was thinking of the "fatal flaw" of Mar Roxas' campaign as to why he didn't win. Roxas promised good outcomes but he didn't make any preposterous promises like Noynoy's or even as preposterous as Duterte's. I think the big "flaw" is that Roxas may have not realized that the best way to win in the presidential system is to LIE. Yes, I was thinking that if Roxas and Leni Loud promised something as preposterous as making the Philippines the best ASEAN country in three to six months! Maybe, if Roxas and Leni Loud promised it then the Liberal Party would've probably dominated the Philippines from 2016 to the present with both of them as president and vice president. Instead, their "failure" to so do is probably why they lost the electoral race in the first place. I think Roxas' Transformer campaign can't be the only reason. It has to do with his lack of preposterous promises too.

In the presidential system, honesty tends to get discouraged. That may be why Sara Duterte-Carpio said it wasn't an important trait in candidates. Hmmm... was Sara poking fun at how the presidential system encourages dishonesty? I wonder if Leni Loud herself will be crazy enough to make that promise. This also exposes the flaws of the presidential system - it's all about WINNABILITY. I think Roxas had some credibility in the past. I guess that's why Roxas didn't win. I guess that's why Jose De Venecia didn't win the presidential race. I guess that's why Gilbert Teodoro didn't win. Neither Roxas, De Venecia, and Teodoro promised to do something preposterous! I guess that's where they failed - they never PROMISED anything preposterous hence they LOST.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary system is clearly NOT about jingles and campaigns. Instead, it's all about RESULTS-ORIENTED politics. The presidential system kills 99.9% of accountability. The parliamentary system is all about ACCOUNTABILITY. If Duterte has a cabinet as the prime minister then Roxas has his own cabinet as the shadow prime minister. Roxas' job in the shadow government or opposition is to question Duterte on a weekly basis. The questioning is very much live and Roxas and his fellow Yellows are now given the chance to prove as to why they should be the Government (and why he would make a better prime minister) in the next parliamentary elections. Duterte is required to answer and be transparent - something that the presidential system hardly has. Why do you think there have been SALN issues and not just Duterte? It's because the presidential system is encouraging such behavior in the long run.

One way to really get results is the parliamentary system. Do you think the Government and the Opposition will lax off if both sides need to be transparent to each other? That's one of the key ingredients that made Singapore have better politics - it's the PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM.
