The defeat of Donald J. TRUMPED during the presidential election during his RE-ELECTION bid is something. Just then former AkBAYAD chair Etta Rosales (also the former nincompoop chair of the Commission on Human Rights or CHR) decided to go epal mode again. Obviously, she's shown her true colors when she has sided with Antonio Trillanes IV and the Bantay Nakaw Coalition. Now, she decides to compare Trumped's defeat to President Rodrigo R. Duterte. But she entirely MISSES THE POINT between the two of them. In fact, some Duterte supporters are even ANTI-TRUMP. Also, even with Joe Biden wins, what's the guarantee that the Liberal Party of the Philippines will once again dominate the Philippines? Otso Diretso lost last 2019 at the same time Trumped's ratings were already lowering down. Also, even if the Liberal Party will beg help from Biden but the Philippines and the USA are both separate countries from each other.
Just consider the approval ratings of Duterte and Trumped for a start. Duterte has a 91% approval rating in spite of his shortcomings. For one, his gasoline joke mixed with sarcasm was uncalled for or was probably meant to test the common sense of people. For me, it's still a mistake or that he should really practice more self-control. What about Trumped? Trumped's ratings went down to as low as 41% which is a stark contrast to Duterte's 91% and Vice President Leni Loud Robredo's 57% approval. Both Duterte and Leni Loud still have the MAJORITY or at least 51% on their side. Trumped makes Leni Loud look smart. At least, Leni Loud was doing something during COVID-19. Duterte was also doing something COVID-19. That's why it's best NOT to politicize any efforts done by Duterte and Leni Loud.
What about Trumped? Trumped has become the subject of MORE JOKES than Joseph "Erap" Estrada, Duterte, and Leni Loud combined. At least, Erap had the decency to RESIGN during the jueteng scandal though a parliamentary system would've voted him immediately. Trumped's decline in approval rating would make any more allegations of electoral fraud LAUGHABLE. If his approval rating is low then does he expect the Electoral College to suddenly vote for him? I'd even want to joke that Andy Bird Bautista was hired by Trumped to try and get him to win but FAILED. Trumped denial of COVID-19 to be just a "Democrat scam" may have also made USA's COVID-19 cases MUCH HIGHER than that of the Philippines. Not to mention, Trump was already ruining the USA with his economic protectionist policies and the reckless trade war with China.
What was rather coincidental (if ever) are two alleged cases of cheating. During 2019, #OtsoDiretso lost, and their supporters tag #HalalanDayaan2019. Right after that, Donald J. Trumped LOST and now he's claiming that he's being cheated on. What a coincidence, right? #OtsoDiretso lost in 2019 and Trumped lost in 2020. It seems like as if Trumped's loss of credibility predicted that of #OtsoDiretso's loss. After #OtsoDiretso - Trumped had also lost. It would be a lot more fair to compare Trumped to #OtsoDiretso than to Bongbong Marcos. I still feel COMELEC needs to explain the 25% shaded votes in favor of Leni Loud.
Etta calling Duterte a tyrant is far-fetched. ABiaS-CBN's free airwaves was revoked in compliance with the constitution they defended and defied at the same time. However, ABiaS-CBN is still able to operate as a COMPANY. Rappler which has been critical of Duterte is still operational. Karen Davila who is critical of Duterte still continues with her job. The case of Maria Ressa was more on cyberlibel committed against a private citizen - not against Rappler as a whole. The likes of Leah Navarro, Jim Paredes, Agot Isidro, and the like are still whining over social media yet NOT ONE SINGLE THREAT OF ARREST was given. Also, the order of Liela Dilemma was from the Department of Justice and not Duterte himself. Besides, comparing Duterte with the REAL DICTATOR Ferdinand E. Marcos is far-fetched. Just think when Duterte martial law - it was with the approval of the legislation because an all-out invasion happened in Marawi. Did Duterte's martial law suspend elections like it was during Marcos' dark years? Not at all as the 2019 elections happened. The rest of the Philippines is NOT under martial law but state quarantine to halt the spread of the virus.
We can think about it that Trumped defeat might not be a signal for Duterte's defeat. For one, Duterte, as long as the 1987 Constitution remains unamended, can't run for a second term. Duterte and Leni Loud are waiting for their terms to end by 2022. Rather, it might be a wake-up call to the Liberal Party to move away from their antics and focus on solutions. It might be a signal to Leni Loud to focus more on her work and maybe her approval rating will eventually increase. Trumped had it coming because, unlike Duterte (and even Leni Loud), he hardly did anything.
