The Hypocrisy Of Admiring Lee Kuan Yew's Quote Against Marcos While Going Against Constitutional Reform

Well, every time it's September - one person comes to my mind namely the dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos. Although he's already dead - many of his deals such as a protectionist Filipino state maintained by OFWs still live on. It's really crazy how the Dilawans use whatever quote they can to discredit Marcos and one of them is the "dictator", the late Lee Kuan Yew. Lee's quote on Marcos really means a lot when you think about the culture of Filipinos - being too soft and too forgiving. Not to mention, he made mention of Marcos who pillaged the country for two decades. I don't want to deny the WELL-DOCUMENTED abuses of the Marcos Years yet the Yellowtards are just as dumb. They admire Lee for bashing Marcos yet they don't want to follow his style of governance.

Although Rigoberto Tiglao is an OLD FOSSIL with economics - he did reveal that human rights abuses under Marcos and Cory were no different. I do still facedesk at Tiglao's statement that Singapore only accepted foreign investors after it progressed - I do still check his investigative reporting every now and then like I read Get Real Philippines even if Benign0 is just as dull as Tiglao. It would be interesting to know that Tiglao's article revealed that writer Richard Kessler's book Rebellion and Repression in the Philippines reveal that human rights abuses were just the same. The difference is the Cory Years were less obvious and only lasted up to six years. Though it's a shame that Tiglao doesn't even bother to point out that protectionism under Marcos and Cory was just as RAMPANT. Yes, that needs to be pointed out as to another reason why the Philippines NEVER recovered from the Marcos plunder for several decades now!

It should be considered that after the Cory Years - Fidel V. Ramos himself advocated for constitutional reform which was termed as charter change. Ramos may have had some mistakes but consider how he knew the system was a FAILURE. Ramos advocated for the easing of unreasonable economic restrictions. Later, the Asian Correspondent also mentioned that even Joseph Estrada and Noynoy Aquino eased down certain restrictions. In-between, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also provided the framework that Noynoy followed to improve the economy. However, the real problem again was the system that's why Arroyo herself wanted to go for parliamentary. What happened next was rather grisly. Instead of supporting Arroyo's intended changes which Ramos himself wanted - they walked forward and decided to defend the DEFECTIVE 1987 Constitution. They all went forward and decided to go against constitutional reform. It was the result of Filipinos who kept fighting against reforms that could've BENEFITED THEM for decades

They admire Lee but hate parliamentary and free markets. Misconceptions behind parliamentary and free markets just went on and on. Parliamentary systems were soon demonized as to simply regarding them as term extensions or even no elections. The truth is that the parliamentary systems have elections and a person can sit in office as long as he or she is qualified. Parliamentary will grant term extension only by the virtue of the people's vote. Free markets were soon demonized to have lies such as "foreign invasion" or that only foreign investors will get rich if you let them. So what's the use of admiring Lee when they fight against the desire to go parliamentary and open to foreign investors? The irony is really mind-boggling at many levels. Their virtue signaling is just lame at many levels because they'll do anything to demonize Marcos while loving economic protectionism at the same time. They're good at one thing - being consistent at BEING INCONSISTENT!
